Strangely enough there was a lot of highlights but i guess Gee Atherton and the Helicopter at The Blast was definitely the one.

Gran Canaria March & November... incredible trails
Bellurgan Bull Raid... such a fantastic course, was still loving it after 6 hours
Marathon Champs... just one of those days

Being part of the Blast and competing against the Athertons and Robin, Crossing the line at the ROC with Byrne and Nipples my club mates.
Off the bike it has to be Robin and Dan shoulder to shoulder at Big Vinnie, the chopper overhead, I shouted so hard my lungs came flying out my mouth.
On the bike it would have to be Lug in May for the first time, the climb nearly killed me but the descent, sprinting with Greg and the gang was the stuff of legend.

Yeah hearing then seeing the Chopper sweeping over the finish line at the blast was pretty awesome.

The ROC was a brilliant weekend of biking and pure Craic! The memory of Terry causing all the computers on the self service tills in the supermarket to crash still makes me laugh out loud!

The whole crew sittin on the beach drinking beers have'n the craic... deadly
Loved the Bull Raid - but then I'd be biased there, but giving how the weather held off, how the course was fun every lap, and how there was time to have the craic between laps, and that I got on the podium for the only time during the year, yeah - it's up there for me.
Also, Bontrager 24/12, great weather, fun course, getting to be part of a team, good times.
And a bit of an outsider event, the Bogman XC race in Donegal. Very oldskool style race, 1x14km lap, varied field, fireroad and open mountain, but great fun to be part of it. Even managed to cycle out and back from where I lived at the time.
Also, Bontrager 24/12, great weather, fun course, getting to be part of a team, good times.
And a bit of an outsider event, the Bogman XC race in Donegal. Very oldskool style race, 1x14km lap, varied field, fireroad and open mountain, but great fun to be part of it. Even managed to cycle out and back from where I lived at the time.
For a complete and very heavily handicapped novice, being first over the line on a summer evening at the club league, wondering where everyone was and then being told you were first home .....followed by the craic in the GB. Roll on summer.
Another novice experience ....last saturday coming off Djouce in the snow, flying back to ballinastoe and not on the boardwalks...... god, it's great in the winter and everything in between.

I didn't really have any bike related highlights this year, but I got out last night for the first time in 4 months, back on track now I hope, finally got to test the light I bought in Alfies shop months ago, works a treat, got to test the tyres I bought off Batster months ago, also working a treat, I forgot how mucky it was, forgot how dark it was, forgot how hard it was...but most of all I forgot how good it was...lying in the hospital the other week with a leg infection it crossed my mind, what will I do if they have to chop this off, I'll never get back on the bike now, I'm bad enough with two legs.....have a great Christmas.
