Munster Xc Round 3 Killarney

Hi Lads, Killarneycyclingclub are holding Round 3 of the Kinetica MunsterXC League on Sunday March 11th.The race is being held on the grounds of An Oige Youth Hostel in Fossa which is right on the outskirts of the town.As this is the venue for round5 of the NPS series in June, some of you might be interested in travelling down for the weekend and get a preview of the course.The track is only available on race days as the ground are normally for the use of Hostel guests, so is the only oppurtuinity available for a preview.There is currently 4km of mostly single track in natural woodlands, surrounding a 5 acre field,no fireroads.We have just completed a new roadway to give access to the field for parking and Start/Finish and will be extending the track to 5km for the Nps.The track is fast and flowing when dry,but sticky and greasy when wet,nothing major in the line of rocks or roots but plenty of stuff to keep you on your toes.We held 2 developement races there last year with our Cork Neighbours and the got great feedback on the venue.Accomadition is available onsite at the hostel.Any questions post here and I will check back, or visit our website

Hi lads,got a few PM" there today looking for more info, so here are the race details,.Will be good to get some riders from outside the Munster clubs as need plenty of feedback on the course /venue with the NPS down the tracks.

Details for thew race next Sunday below.
The course has been improved and extended since last year.
All catering will be provided by the An Oige Hostel, so please support them as they are providing us with this great location FREE OF CHARGE.
NO PARKING ON THE DRIVEWAY LEADING TO THE HOSTEL OR IN THE PARKING AREA IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF THE HOSTEL MAIN ENTRANCE. THESE AREAS ARE RESERVED FOR HOSTEL GUESTS.PLEASE COPERATE WITH THE PARKING ATTENDANTS.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9am Registration opens and Course open for practice laps.
9:30am Kids Coaching hour begins. Note kids must register first!
10:30am Kids Coaching hour ends and course is cleared.
10:45am Under 8's, 10's & 12's races begin.
11:15am Under 14's & 16's races begin.
11:45am Prizes for Youth categories at main start line.
11:45am Registration for Adult categories close.
12:00 Elite Category start.
12:01 Sports Category start.
12:02 Ladies category start.
1:30/45 Main prizegiving at registration tent.

Senior lap is approx 4k and avg. 20 mins for s2,s3 riders at to moment.
4laps for elite
2laps for Sport

There are no entry fee's for all categories under 16's. We are doing our best to make sure Youth rider development is given opportunity to grow.
For all other categories there is an entry fee of €10 per person.

Race licenses as per Cycling Ireland criteria are required. If you have a full or restricted license then just bring it along on the day or a copy of the confirmation email you received from Cycling Ireland.

If you do not have a license you can purchase one on the day at the race, we do not set these prices, they are set by Cycling Ireland and they are necessary in order to cover you with insurance at the event.

Rider's who do not have any type of Licence: Rider will need to purchase a 1-Day Race Licence. Cost is €20 for Senior, €10 for Junior and €5 for Youth for 2012.

Directions; Take the Killorglin road heading out from killarney, pass Golf Club and Leibher Crane factory until you come to "The Golden Nugget Pub" located at thefirst main junction with Dingle singpposted to your RIGHT, this is approx 1.5 miles out of town.Take this RIGHT for dingle and the An Oige hostel is 500m up on you left.This will be clearly singposted from the main road.
