The Bull Raid 2012

Sat 4th of Aug, 2012 course just the same, No cutbacks here.

The course length and race format will be same 11.2k as 2011. But under the Croke Park agreement we have negotiated 100% more flow. In a special sitting the capital budget was extended to alow us to bring in the diggers and stone. Ohh the flowwww!!!!

Both The Half Bull 6 hour and the original Full Bull 12hr are back retaining their winning format for 2012.

The Full Bull starts at 7:30am, as it gets a bit dark in the woods towards 8pm. Camping is availalbe on-site, with the bbq and bonfire to celebrate on the Saturday night.
The Half Bull will be on the same course as the 12hr with the same format except for a 1.30pm start. Finish time is 7.30pm same as the main race.

So who's doing what?
No doubt Jackson is doing the 12 Hour Solo (there's no 24 hour!). I'm going to do the 6 hour solo but if you don't fancy that there's 6 and 12 hour pairs and mixed pairs so no excuse!
we have enough man/womanpower in the club to enter a team/pair/solo in every category, i was talking to alfie about the 12hour mixed pairs but he wasnt too keen so ill mention it to caroline when i see her. theres plenty ladies to make a team of 4 .i think max is one half of the 12hour mens pairs. 12hour solo lady ??

Yourself and Alfie are going to enter the 12 hour mixed pairs?
Can someone explain the format for the 6 hour and 6 hour pairs? I usually tune out when I see this sort of thing but my interest is piqued. And what is that course like, does fun feature at all?

It's a great course Don .... nice flowing single track throughout, no long climbs!
6 hour solo is exactly what it says - one person does as many laps as they can within the 6 hours! In the pairs race the 2 people relay each other with each competitor having to do a minimum number of laps (not sure how many?). Usually each rider does 1 lap on / 1 lap off!
I did 6-hour solo last year and was still loving the course on the last lap. The loop is quite long at 11km so you dont feel like you're simply going in circles. No major climbs and mostly singletrack. Racing as a pair simply means two people taking turns to ride as many laps as possible in 6-hours. You can break it down any way you like... first rider does 3 laps second rider does 1 or taking turns to do one each. You can both stop for a rest if you wish.
That's this weekend right? Nope, not going - you'll have a blast though - really good weekend there.
Im kinda tempted to do the 6 hour pairs if anyone is looking for a partner to do it, havent been on the bike enough to do 6 hr solo! Its a great course Don, youd love it, basically all really nice singletrack.
