I want to get a new bike,
Looking at "Trek" bike at the moment.
I want to buy a new one, but a 2010 or 2011 model.
Do dealers have any old stock lying around?
or what's the best way to get one for myself?
I would say ring around and see, the cycle in in tallagh prob carry the largest selection of Trek bikes in Dublin / east coast. I have to ask why do you want the older model, if you think the older model has a higher spec chance are there won't be any saving to made against a similar spec 2012/13 model.
did I just land my freakin space ship on Planet Mental ? Everybody knows its either Giants, Cubes or Lapierre on this Forum..Treks are the Raleighs of this age.

I've seen Raleigh's and Trek's are definitely a bit better.
But seriously, I like the geometry of the Trek full susser's and I
find them really nice to ride.
Just my personal preference.

I'm Looking for something with more like a DH geometry but something that won't be murder to cycle uphill. I have been looking at the "Trek Slash 9" but was told this might be overkill for what I want.
So then I was looking at the "Trek Scratch", which the "Slash" is replacing. Hence why I have to look at 2010/11 bikes.
Would anyone have any bikes that they would recommend?

Lapierre zesty, flys on the uphills and makes the downhill easy. Best bike ive ever rode. Giant trance are a super bike too. Cyclesuperstore should have demo zestys to try, you wont be disappointed!
If you are looking at the Slash and Scratch take a look at a Lapierre Spicy. I own one and the only thing I would consider replacing it with is a new version of the same. They fly up the hill and down. Especially down.
2012 Zestys all sold out except from the 514 up, even the Demo ones are gone..September is D Day for 2013 models. You won't be disappointed by the new ones.
Any bike will go up and down well provided the Rider is good enough.
People should get themselves up a good level before they expect the bike to do that for them.
Theres a lot of good riders out there on sh*t bikes and even more sh*t riders on good bikes..wisdom gained without mileage is just bullsh*t according to Henry Rollins.
Ride the bike you have now until it holds you back , then spend as much as you can on the one that will give you the most pleasure.
Just remember though that unless you are a superstar no bike is going to do everything you want. Mind you a Zesty is about as close as you can get.
