Lakeland warrior mtb marathon

I'm considering doing this - anyone else?
Any feedback on last years event?

Unfortunately it's on the same day as the Marathon Champs in Ballyhoura. The Ballyhoura track is brilliant. That's where I'll be going for sure!

i have brought this up on numerous occasions and i have consistently been ignored by all involved so i think i will go to torq in your sleep in the uk that day instead. this will be discussed at the offroad commision agm !

I know you have a real issue with this Ger but I don't know what the Commission is supposed to do if the organisers of the Lakelands race insist on going ahead on the same day as the National Marathon Champs? It's not as if they need permission to run an event! It can only take away from their event (and probably from the Champs too!) but it's their decision!

no richard im afraid you have that completely arseways the date for the marathon champs was changed after the date for lakeland was announced

Ger, not saying having two events like this running at the same time is ideal...As RL says, what can C.I do? The Lakeland Warrior is a private event so they can do what they like...

All we can do is turn up at the Offroad Agm and look at/agree on event dates for 2013 then...

use a date that has not been anounced for another event would seem like the most obvious answer

I'm well aware of that Ger but the decision was made to bring the National Marathon Championships forward so that they wouldn't be a such a remove from the end of XC season which I thought was a very sensible idea? The Lakelands organisers knew this at the start of the year and could have changed their date if they had wanted. Surely the National Championships should take priority over other smaller events?

Nope, I'm not speaking for the commision here, and as you well know I was not part of the commision who decided this at all! I'm speaking as a helpful club member....

Sure you were at the Offroad AGM last year when they decided to pull the Champs date back to August?

I couldn't remember why this was done, so I went and found out for you, it's so it was closer to the end of the race season and to try get the numbers up...

who gives a fiddlers about a miserable niche discipline like Marathons and the freakily deekilys that get the horn over them ! More Gravity Enduros and XCo anyday..I'm only good over long distances bollocks..

What is the usual plan for the Marathon champs, do people stay over or go down on the day and head back etc?
