4 stages, 300km overall distance, about 10km elevation gain (looks like it's around 2,5km per stage)
The mountains in Poland are high so the climbs will be savage, I can't speak for descents or the singletrack / fireroads ratio as I've never cycled over there. I would imagine it's mostly fireroads or walking trails with some bits of singletrack. There shouldn't be much of the tarmac though.
fair play Max but if I am going anywhere other than the Roc it will be to that Transpyre job !! I don't think I could survive on a diet of Swan and ladybirds I'm afraid
Transpyre is going to break your bank and the will to live, so will other trans-monstermountain races in Europe.
The Polish one will cost you approx €150 for the entry and €120-160 for accommodation.
If I'm going to the Roc next year I will do the Enduro on Thursday and the night race on Friday, I don't think I will do the main Roc etc.

its not about the money Max and you have no soul and theres no point in going to the Roc D'Azur without doing the Roc on the Sunday .
I like change, I don't know how you people can go there every year do the same races, stay in the same hotel and do everything exactly the same each year.... it's just not my style.
I might not go at all and save up for the BC race in 2014 in Canada... that's another option.
Max, I was looking at that event earlier this week. It's well worth while seeing who in the club is interested as it appears to be a good event. I'm looking to do another event simular next year. After doing Trans-Gremany with the lads these events are excellent craic. They may not suit everybody but you wont know until you've done one. You should really try get a group of strong riders together for this event. "so that rules me out".
Yeah it's a good event and you get a free personal guide to Poland (me!) which will make everything so much easier. If I go I will go with intention of doing well in it so yes, a strong group would be good.
There is a team option (3 men) or mixed team (2 men 1 lady....so that could be you, terry and oscar). Or just start individually....
If I don't travel to that then I will hook up with the Polish crew which will probably travel to the Enduro races in Poland, one way or another I really want to try racing in the homeland next year.

I've ridden a bit in that part of Poland. It's good - thats skiing country so everything is steeeep. You'd be surprised at the singletrack Max, some good stuff around there.
i'd say there's no better value stage race in Europe - that location is only about 1.5-2hrshrs drive from either Krakow or Katowice both serviced by Ryanair, Aer Lingus and Wizz.
In the end we decided to give it a miss for 2013 as it looks savage hard - look at the profiles - and none of us have the time to get in the shape required by then
Given the time to train though I'd have no hesitation in going..
Apart from that stage race the same organiser does a marathon series, a few of which are in that same area. I have done a few of these and they are well organised and very well attended.
Lads any stage race with that amount of climbing is going to have lots of fire road and trust me you will look forward to tarmac as your hole will be in bits on the 3rd day!!!
I might be going to a wedding in toronto next year I found out last night and its the week before BC, so if i go Im going the whole hog and doing the BC, there are very few places left and at €1500 no cheap entries left!!!

Dont know about that. The Roc marathon had more vertical climbing but managed to keep it very interesting with a good mixture of trails, mostly doubletrack & singletrack. I dont mind cimbing fireroads but using them as descents etc just freaks me out. The Trans races incorporate lots of non-technical stuff cause there's large entry numbers and so there's no point having 1500 riders fighting for the same singletrack.
The BC race is without doubt the pinnacle and it's on my euromillions list...
