Best crash: Rudolf on Wicklows big, scary mountain
Most mediocre race season: Mine, average club league, grim Nationals, farcical Bull Raid, OK showing at the Djouce Enduro.
Maddest day out: Bull Raid, mud from beginning to end, rear mechs and chains littered the trail, bike imploded after 1 lap, my teammate fared even worse. Delighted it was over and enjoyed sitting around in the sun watching the survivors claw their way around. Highlight was Marcs multitool made of cheese.
Most fun race: Djouce Enduro, loved that, a rare dry day and masses out, 8th in my Cat and did not kill myself, result.
Worst spin: WW Ballinastoe to Djouce, gale force sidewind, boardwalks unridable, frozen face, soaked through, tested the adage "no such thing as bad spin". Winter clothing rapidly upgraded.
Best spin: Richies Carrick tour the day before the Enduro, loved that, dry, dry, dry. Aim to do them all next year.
Best photo: The steaming, post club league apocalypse shot, like a Caravaggio mtb painting.
Best bike upgrade: XT brakes for the Trance, Best Brakes Ever.
Tyre of the year: Hutchinson Toro, great all rounder, from XC to Enduro, like an Ignitor only better.
Saving the Best for Last Award: The Gregor, for going up North and winning the Foxhunt, that'll teach them.
Strangest injury: Passing out on Scarr waking to find Rudolf undoing my baggies, trust the Dutch to never miss an opportunity.
Gobsh1te of the year: The Rock Dropper, it's a testament to the very people he is trying to injure/kill that his well known car has not been burnt out.
Aspirations for next year: Fitter, faster, blah, blah, blah. Not to buy a road bike.
