Theres loads of Dublin based courier companys that will bring back a pallet from the Uk for as little as 70 euro . U just give them them the details for collection they pick it up drop her off at your door ... Simples!!
Those cheapo shed alarms are useless, can't see the thief trying to key in the correct code, once in they will just smash it to bits. Best to get the shed wired remotely into your home alarm, not a big job. Big locks sunk into the ground are the best bet, but nothing will stop them, just make it is much of a PITA as possible. Or just buy a 29er, who'd want to steal one of those?
For anyone out there renting 123.ie was the best place to insure if you are renting as they cover high end bikes. Have lots of locks as well but the insurance is just a safety net, especially when there we have so many bikes between us.
thanks for the advice Billybobs, am already planning how to turn the shed into a fortress; CCTV, anchor locks, alarm, automatic lighting. I even considered a 24 hour sniper hiding in the bushes but it was outside my budget!
I have people coming in to the shop on a daily basis saying they had their bikes robbed. Heres todays story.
This couple came in, he had his bike robbed Saturday night .
He asked me whats the best way to avoid having your bike robbed. I said a big black dog.
He said they have a dog and it barks at everybody but not this time.
At Christmas they had a fridge delivered and the bike was in the shed where the fridge was going. The delivery guy was very keen on the roadbike in the shed.
The guy got a bit worried about this and started locking the bike in the shed and time went on and he gave up doing it.
I said to him was your dog out the front of the house as well..he said yeah ..
Judging by all the stories I've heard , I reckon the delivery guy is scoping the houses and telling his cronies whats good and they scumbags are feeding the dogs on the sly and then getting past them and away with the goods. Dogs are great but they think with their bellies.
Unless they are like my German Shepherd and maybe its a German Shepherd thing..he never eats his food right away and I think if you tried to feed him, he'd eat you.
From what I can gather robbing bikes is big business..in this case they ignored the kids brand new bikes and moved them to get his..it was a â¬1000 trek.
A friend of mines mother lived around the corner from Conor on Brides Glen road and she was plagued by certain members of the community. Until he shot one of them.
That whole area is like a Spar shop to these c*nts !
I have a dirty big lock and chain and they are inside a locked shed. Just make it as awkward as possible. Also lots are on strava and it can show your address if not set up properly. Easy pickings for the clever thief, bike profile and address = chance of theft.
