Hi. I'm the new member of Epic. I will doing it. In a what time will You be there? I'll start in baggy shorts on my giant trance 1. This is my first time competition in my life. :)
And Bart yes it is the official trial center route twice for the baggy short, and its the best possible races to start your racing career no bother to you!
Ok. Thanx. I will be there about 11.30 to collect my numer. Is this a good time?
Hi Bart. Get there for about 11 am get your number and do a practice lap (prob 25 mins??) Better to have too much time than not enough time. Best of luck

Ok, here we go, Bart that's for you but also for anyone who hasn't raced yet (or has but still struggles to prepare correctly!)
Rule no 1: Fail to prepare, prepare to fail! Make sure your bike is 100% before the race, gears, cables, tyres nad tyre pressures, everything has to be spot on!
Rule no 2: Hydrate and fuel up BEFORE the race, not during the race. Baggy Shorts race is going to be 1h long or so, you shouldn't need to eat or drink at all if you hydrate yourself properly before the race. Take a bottle with you if that makes you feel comfortable, don't bring a camelback. You can carry a gel with you but I wouldn't bother, by the time the sugar kicks in the race will be over.
Rule no 3: Warm up properly. I wouldn't do a full lap as a warm up if this is your first race, you will just wear yourself out and you might risk getting a puncture or a mechanical. Go up the tarmac road up and down spinning a easy gear for about 15-20min before the race.
What and when to eat before the race:
Low GI, easily digestible foods are best for breakfast: porridge with some fruit, scambled eggs etc. Avoid meat and fatty stuff. Eat a solid breakfast at your usual time then have a snack before the race but not later than 1h before the start (ideally not later than 1,5-2h if you can). You might feel the need to eat just before the race but it's just nerves, you will have enough energy in your body to race.
Drink plenty of water the day before and have a carbs rich dinner (pasta, rice etc. are good) Avoid red meat which will still be digested the following day while you race...
What to wear and what tools to have with you.
If the weather stays like this then long sleeved baselayer, jersey and gloves. 3/4 or normal lycra shorts should be ok. You won't need a hat, winter tights, overshoes or a jacket. If you feel warm and comfortable standing around before the start then you are overdressed.
NO CAMELBACKS!
Tools in your jersey pockets:
Multitool, power link, spare tube, co2 cartridges, tyre lever. But then again, it's a short race, if you get a mechanical you won't get a chance to catch up and the car park is within a walking distance so you might just ride without any tools if you want.
Other stuff:
Tyre pressure - harder than normal, all the climbs are tarmac and fireroads and the new metro is lethal for punctures. If you have tubes in your wheels don't go below 40psi (or more depending on your weight)
Suspension - ride it firm, similar to your tires.
Race etiquette - race with the people in your race, let everyone else by when they ask (they will shout Rider Up). You will get caught by the Super Pros and when that happens just move to one side of the trail (ideally the one that they suggest, they will be shouting: to your right, or to your left) and let them pass.
Toilets - bring a roll of your own toilet paper, there is always shortage of this stuff!
