bike / house insurance

whats the best deal out there for bike insurance or house insurance to cover the bikes?

I dont believe its worth it. A pal claimed for a 3k worth of bike. Insurance gave him around 2k. When renewal came he almost had to give it all back. Plus no other company would give him a reasonable quote. So he ended up paying more in insurance than bikes were worth. Buy a few really good locks/alarm and cctv and say a prayer

Well renowned chains and anchors to deter thiefs, there are clips on the website showing how easily some well rated chains can be cut.
Prevention is better than cure!

I think most Garda stations now have a bike register scheme. If you take a picture of the bike, take a few mins to attend the local station. Register the bike, brand, serial number etc. By the looks of it a lot of these good bikes aren't turning up again in Ireland. If a bike is taken recommend you ask the Gardai to do tech examination of the area the bikes taken from. From now to Christmas burglaries will increase. If you can spend extra few mins putting bike away I recommend the attic!

Keep in the house. Chain to the wall or floor. If they are after the bikes they will get them anyway but it will stop opportunistic thieving scum that just break in for cash and iPhones.
Insurance cover has loads of small print stuff like that it has to locked to an immovable object with a gold standard lock etc. I don't think they cover sheds and garages etc.
