Insurance Cover

I checked my post yesterday and i had recieved a letter from cycling Ireland regarding bike insurance cover ref Epic Mtb. I believe we are covered when on club spins but this seemed to cover your bike and gear type of insurance...
It was €120 for the cover...has anyone bought in to this???
Seems to make a little sence..
I'm afraid mine went straight into the re-cycling (geddit?) bin, I have a low opinion of insurance companies.
I took out the cover this morning - I've 3 horses in the shed now and if they got stolen I would be truly f**cked, they may as well steal my organs, coz my life, as I know it,
(pause for dramatic effect)
would be over......

I'd end up weaving those baskets with Gav, and who would ever wish that upon themselves.....
from reading the small print the chances of a pay out are pretty slim. Requirements for armed security on your shed and retina scanner for entry.
If I know Fergal I'd say he has some ingenious security systems in place, and I don't mean loosened QR's either.
1 shed, 3 padlocks outside, 2 motorbike chains, a big fat coily-chain and a remote alarm inside.
and dirty oily rags thrown over the bikes to 'cheapen' them.
and the insurance.
and the two curious dogs from next door who always say hello to me.
and the local vicious b*stards of cats.

anything more secure and I'm gonna need to pull a lion out of the zoo and tie him up in there, though the local cats would probably pull his legs off, they're awful b*stards........
I have it, cover bikes up to 10k, any one up to 7k. Only odd thing in the policy is that you car must be alarmed and the bike not visable. Covers damage, the excesses are not to dad if you have an expensive mashine.

Wish I had taken it out last year,
is it not possible to cover the bikes on your house insurance "all risks" ? I'm certainly under the impression that mine are covered this way (not that they are worth much) but maybe I'm wrong
I have mine on the household policy, down separately as a "exceptional item", which I thought was apt.
i very much doubt the theft of the happy fairys bike would have been covered. Insurance companies will try anything to wrangle out of paying out. I remember when i had my car broken into in cloon, my phone was stollen. When i tried to claim on the vodafone insurance they asked me where in the car was my phone i said the glove box. They asked was the glove box locked, being honest i said no because there was no lock on my glove box in my car at the time. They refused to pay out. Even though i had no option to lock it into the glove box. They said they would only pay out if the phone was locked into the glove box or in the boot.
phone insurance is crap..has anybody ever claimed a bike on their house insurance?
i know it is thats why i don't have it anymore but i get the feeling that the bike insurance is of a similar style. It kinda seems a bit too good to be true. More importantly did anyone get it last year and make a succesfull claim
