As (I hope) most of you know the XCM Nationals are taking place in Ballyhoura on the 24th this month. After a years absence from the racing calendar the Marathon Nationals in back and Team Ballyhoura, the organisers, have put a huge amount of work in making this possible. Together with the Ballyhoura Trailriders they have designed and cleared a 65km loop, which goes over a variety of terrain not just the Coillte singletrack.
The online registration for this event closes on Sunday the 17th so make sure you register in time, in fact I would like to ask anyone that is going to race to register asap and not wait until last minute. There are always some license issues etc. that need time to be resolved if necessary.
If we want to see more marathon style events in Ireland in the future (and I think we all do) we need to support this event, for 35e entry free it's probably the cheapest long distance event you can find so even if you don't think you are competitive over the long distance please think of it as a sportive / spin and do it anyway.
You will not be disappointed.
After that it's all CX and whatever you like to do in the winter but let's give the XC season a send off it deserves, see you all in Ballyhoura!
