Good event today, Really enjoyed it. swim was torture.... It's a long feckin way. got out of the water 3rd*, and was fine from there...
mtb course was real, I was expecting a fire road but was suprised with proper singletrack. Got to pass heaps of riders. It was sandy though, involving riding on the beach a few times... I could hear the chain grating on my new 'Dale. Gerry would be horrified if he was there...
The run was a challenge too, but good fun. Loads of chest deep river crossings etc...
Pity it clashed with MAD's event. Fair play to all who entered. Gregmay was there from team WORC, but must have been embarrased to wear their gear... He got some impressive gravel rash up his arm & leg due to a tyre burping mid corner... ouch
One of Oscars mates was there for what seemed to be his first open water tri... His name is mick, and he loggs on here... well done mate... Beth was knocking about too, but was spectating.
If there is another, I'd reccomend it.

Yeh it was EPIC altogether......swim was cold and lonnnnng scared the c%&p out of me as it was my fist time out in open sea....Bike was good too but got a flat near the end and had to hike a bike for about 500 meters....the run was good fun 6 river crossings up to the waist, muck…..hills more up than down..........
Twas a good race alright, water was mighty feckin cold.. the singletrack was surprisingly good with a few good off camber rooty bits....I had an ok swim, a good bike an an alright run, finished in 5th....Good to see a mixed bunch of mountainbikers triathletes and adventure racers battling it out on a good course.
Yeah, have to agree with everything above. Was a good day all round. Weather was perfect. Wasn't too mucky. Nice variety in the bike section. Good stewarding with people shouting out directions.
It definitely was better fun than a normal tri - a better test of ones wits and skills.
Would love to see more of them in the future.
Although, this is all in retrospect. In reality, I was cursing the whole thing when my numb fingers refused to help me put on my SPD's after the swim!

I hope I'll be able for the next one, I'm still out of action with my injury. I can't wait to get back out on the bike, hope to be out for a spin soon as I've only made one spin with the club so far.

he used to be a mountainbiker you know..I have a tent and chairs and I'm getting a folding table and i'll have the gas powered Burco by July, never again will we suffer the ignominy of being tea and coffee less..i won't be making sambos or cakes..for reasons I won't go in to ,suffice to say , some people would call me anachronistic..if i say anything else I will be branded both racist and sexist..
i really shouldn't drink wine like miwadi..
