if you look closely at the results for the Carlingford DH NPS you will see I finished ahead of Murphy..I still mock him today about it..8 secs I beat him by..Sean tells a better story about it..some craic though ..thats when we were all in the one category !! and I was riding a Klein Xc bike as a DH machine !

The race went from near the top of Slieve foye..it must have taken 45 minutes to get up..No uplifts..
I think Travers was on a proflex at the time I was on my Klien XC yoke !! and Bruce was on his marin..although I may have been on an Old Specialized belonging to mark kenny with Girvan forks..
But I had a secret weapon ( Magura Hydro brakes)
Inanyways the weather was outrageous..
On our first run Murphy got a puncture and I went up to Eamon Lawlor who was the Commisssaire and told him to cancel the second run as it was suicide to send people back up the mountain..and he did..
so all the way home and for the next 10 years I have beaten murphy around the head with that 8 seconds..
I was a much badder man back then too!!
Oh I remember that! Bloody heck thats 12 years ago. A classic day alright just like gorillas in the mist. I think we only did one practice run couldn't see a thing and then raced. Mud, wet grass and rocks on XC tyres what a buzz!
