Dinotte lights are hot. Good value, very small and neat and light. Mine took two days to arrive from the states last winter. They use 4aa rechargeable batteries so there cheap
and easy to recharge and you can carry spare batteries with you. Can't remember how long the batteries last but they've never run out on me while out on a cycle.

Dave (Rusty Ring) has an incredible light set up - can't remember what it was but I'm sure he'll chime in!

what would be the cheapest lights that'd do the job? half thinking of getting some for winter

I've this one and its deadly. 3 hr light at full whack, and only 3-4 hrs to charge it back up. Helmet mount is a bit flimsy though, but nothing a bit of insulting tape cant cure.

I have lupine Wilma 5 lights, very good but also very pricey Though you can get good deals on the net.

Lights are so last year, this is what I want.

I have the exposure and really can't believe how good they are
they have great backup and spares too
my charger went a bit wonky and they sent me a new one without looking for the
old one or any questions whatsoever.
also fits in your pocket so you can use it as a torch too

i have the ayup helmet light. its unbelievably bright and really light ie no helmet bob. i had been running it with a lumicycle bar mounted halogen setup, but it makes those (great lights themselves) look crap. so i'm just about to order an ayup bar mount to replace them.

as dethshed points out, they're great value even shipping from oz. however, it seems that you've gotta add 2.7% duty and 15% VAT as well

they were selling them out of the uk last year but dont seem to be anymore

The AYUP's are fantastic lights, used them for the 24 hour race last year and they lasted the hole night. Had the helmet and the handle bar mount. great lights.

I have the light and motion li ion arc hid yokes. They are deadly, dated but deadly. Never once let me down nor ran out on a spin often not charged between spins.

Very expensive once but should be available at savage deals these days. Fragile bulb which I broke before i ever used them but never broke after that and I crash a lot.

To be honest the new hopes are amazing though un real light for very reasonable money and you wont burn your hand on the outer casing of the lamp.
