Is there anyway to bypass the traverse yet still hook up with the best decent? Didn't Robin build something that cut in sooner? Just curious...

just get over your mental block and practice falling-off the cliff Don - once you have it out of the way you'll be fine.....
As the red road plateau's look for a turn to the right. There's a fairly obvious break in the trees. You should spot a single track which brings you to the end of the traverse

yes, that's spooky alright...we should cut out those poxy schlomp channels/furrows from that traverse and then it'll be grand

Don, there's a white rock on the left of the way in to the singletrack, not sure how obvious the track will be at night (or the white rock).... at one point the single track crosses over two ruts where a tree chopper has driven through (ages ago), the single track continues on but you need to turn left there, you pop out at the top of the schlomp.

continue past the start of the Best Descent until you are about 40 m short of the old windmill thingy. At this point turn R. This trail will bring you down to the same place as the Best Descent, more or less, but without anything steep or dangerous that might make you fall off your bike or dab involuntarily.
