I thought you should here this from me first. Earlier today Ireland was awarded the Masters European Championships in both DH & XC for 2011 & 2015. We have also been awarded the European Elite Marathon Championships for 2014.
These will be the biggest MTB events that we have ever had in the country and the hope is that it will help to develop our sport showcase what Ireland has to offer.
Venues have not been decided yet, nor will they be finalised for a while yet.
We will have further press releases, info etc in the coming weeks.
This is monstrously good news Sean, I mean huge big mega-monster, like Godzilla on steroids, great stuff, really looking forward to this
It'll do an amazing job of putting Ireland on the International MTB map as well as boosting the sport a huge amount within the country.
Just wait'll you see the Maserattis queuing up outside the trail centres ...
Congratulations Sean, that really is amazing news. Not will it improve the standing of Ireland internationally but should raise the profile of the sport in this country to a new level altogether.

This is huge news, to get these events to Ireland..Fair play to Sean and crew. I am sure an unbelievable amount of work has gone into this, hopefully the powers that be will also realise this and give it the support that it deserves.. A huge Thanks to all involved as every MTB'r in the country will benefit from this.

Thanks for the positive feedback. I canât really take much credit for it, there where lots of people involved none more so that the Pres of CI, Miceal Concannon. He really drove the application and pulled the right strings to make it happen. Also all the guys who travel over to the Masters races, they are really great ambassadors for us and help no end in making Ireland stand out in the minds of the people who make these decisions.
