chargetime for dealExtreme lights

At long last I got my lights this morning
Can someone tell me what how long it takes to charge them fully

Not too sure, I just stick them on overnight when i get back from spins, but I gather from Gaz that they only take 3-4 hours.

Roughly about 4hrs seems to do mine chaps

That may not be a great idea ..... unless the light has a "Smart" charger you can very quickly fry the battery!

They do have a smart charger Richard so they are ok.

On a related note how long does the battery hold it's charge when not is use? Is it folly to charge it a few days before a spin?

All depends on the type of battery you use..

yeah, about that for mine too, though my battery no longer is charging - just a green light all the time
I found some info on the internet as to what the cause could be (eg; fuse in the charger) so I'm gonna give that a go.
Meantime, I have logged a return ticket with DealExtreme, that was about a week ago with no response yet, so I'm hoping the bit of DIY does the job.....
I'll let ye know how it goes

Alway better to charge them a few hours before you use them to get the best out of them i think, atleast then your sure. In saying that batteries you buy off a shelf like AAA's PP9's etc hold there charge for years without being used.

The were faulty and were returned. I'd say the spread and strength of the Hopes is not as strong, but if it means I'm not standing alone in the dark and pissing cold then I'll live with that!

The Hopes have a really solid reputation ....... and myself and Jack tried to stop them ...... honest!!

All batteries need to be looked after if you want to extend their life.. they should be charged up at least once a month during the off season..

Charging them a week before or even an hour before a spin will make little or no difference to their performance if the battery is in good condition..

The least troublesome ones are Li-Ion and Ni-Mh.... steer clear of Ni-Mh batteries as they suffer terribly from memory loss..

Standard alkaline batteries you buy off the shelf have sell by dates on them... so, no they don't last for years...
