so many spins,so much craic cant remember half of them,trip to scotland comes close for me just for the madness that went on,the first aid course was a lot of fun,some of the club races were such a buzz the savage battles with oisin.
i think the winner for me was the evening spin with a small group of legends up lugnaquilla the up part was horrible but the descent couldnt be better.
If i remember correctly, There was a spin where we did Brokagh,St Kevins something like that during the summer and the weather was mighty fine!! That was a great day. Also some of the full tilt eye bleeder training sessions that took place on a Tuesday evening uparound 3 rock. The club league is the most fun way to spend a Thursday evening, but its the league ,not a spin so it doesnt count in my mind.
Sean's marathon from Kilmac stands out for me. Not only because I read the post wrong and didn't realize it would be so long.
If I'd known I wouldn't have went but having gone and now looking back with rose tinted glasses it was kinda cool.
Good crowd some new routes and a personal achievment staying on the bike so long.
Too many to list, but all the good ones for me seem to involve Glendo, the race of Scarr was a classic, all the EWOKS sessions, the race off Camaderry, 3 abreast on the Switchbacks section with Damo and Killian, Byrner beating half the riders to the summit with a knackered free hub. So many memories...
theres no such thing as a bad spin in Glendo. The night ride we did from Pineforest to Fairy castle and back one night was legendary and any spin with the *******oes..but all the Saturday spins have been brilliant.
They really have when i think of it. Its hard for me to decide what would be the Spin of the year. I do at least 4 spins a week..but any spin with people who are in to it as much as me is always deadly..
Definately my first invite to a Glendo spin! Nailed the Rock of Loneliness and then "danced" down the Rock of Doom! I can still see everybody at the bottom breaking their ****e laughing - Richie looked like he was going to have a heart attack! Never knew I was so funny!
And the craic after the Club Races in the pub was always fantastic!
the Club league and the craic in the pub afterwards..in my opinion the single most important reason to join EPIC..seriously if you are not at, at least one of these, you are missing out what makes the Club great !!
Best spin definitely Lugnaquilla, I honestly don't think it gets better than that.
Second was the Paddy's Day adventure - great spin down to Prince Willie's, Enduro unusually off the pace, Rossco getting annoyed with his bike after a spill on Cruagh, Luke and the frogspawn, the banter all the way but especially that bit in the Pine Forest car park, the grim climb back up Fairy Castle and to top it all off racing Byrner and Alfie down the Boneshaker. Deadly!
For me it was definitely one wet Tuesday night back in October in djouce.
We had a great bunch of loons out and decided to give Alans trail a bash with conditions more slippy than a slippy thing going down the hill like skittles down the chute. Bodies every where and tears rolling down the faces of grown men.
I've tons of great spins - I can remember one dusky Tuesday evening back in August with Cathal, Shona, Gary & Colm, and just having the criac coming down cloon & on to Knockree (or somewhere) down to a river, it was hazy, warm & fast fun - that was some spin, & I recall Cathal saying something about night lights - & I was thinking these folks are fairly insane . . . doing this . . . at night!? That was some spin!
Another total classic was a Djouce spin recently where I was sandwiched between the Master Coach & Adam T coming down some steep ones in Djouce - the weather wasn't even that bad! what a rip-roaring ride. . . fast & fun. . . yeah every spins been good! I was smilling for a week after that one! what a buzz. . .
In fairness thanks to everyone (Jack, Alfie, Gary, Joe, Richie, RL, the list goes on & on) for all their good advice on how to ride over the last number of months - here's to a cracking (ha ha) 2010!!!
