24 hour Cycle Challenge

We're back for another year of 24hour Chaos! Gaelforce Events in association with Killary Adventure Co. are excited to be bringing you the second year of this type of endurance racing which is proving to be ever more popular.

The 24hr Cycle Challenge incorporates a 24hr Mountain Bike Challenge and a 24hr Road Bike Challenge. 24 hour racing is not a new phenomenon, far from it in fact but 2009 was the first time an event had been held in Ireland.

Last year saw 140 participants signed in for a range of categories from Solo Mountain Bikers & Road Racers to teams of 10 and everything in between. We received excellent feedback from the race and this year we expect the event to be bigger and better.

We endeavour to build new single track to keep the course interesting and challenging for returning racers. Details of the track will be up on the website as soon as they are finalised see www.gaelforceevents.com and go to 24hr Cycle Challenge.

NEW 8hr Cycle Challenge

We have added a new exciting 8hr option to the 24hr Cycle Challenge.


We are now running an 8hr challenge alongside the 24hr challenge, there are 3 categories within this as explained below.



The Mini Cycle Challenge
This is a mini cycle challenge that goes for a duration or 8hrs and is open to all teams of 2, 3 & 4. As with the 24hr Cycle Challenge the aim is for your team to complete as many laps of either the mountain bike or road bike route in 8 hours. The 8hr Challenge will take place on Saturday 19th June, starting at 14:00 and finishing at 22:00. For information on the mountain bike and Road bike routes click here.
The price for the 8hr Challenge will be €60pp and camping is included in this price.

8hr Inter Company Road Bike Challenge
This category is a challenge for teams of 5 work colleagues to compete against teams from other companies from across Ireland for full bragging rights for 1 year! This category will only run on the Road Bike route. As with the 24hr Cycle Challenge the aim is for your team to complete as many laps of the road bike route in 8 hours. The 8hr Challenge will take place on Saturday 19th June, starting at 14:00 and finishing at 22:00.
The price for the 8hr Challenge will be €60pp and camping is included in this price.

8hr Inter Forces Mountain Bike Challenge
This category is a challenge for teams of 5 from all the national forces such as the Fire Brigade, Police and Armed forces, to compete against each other for full bragging rights for 1 year! This category will only run on the Mountain Bike route. As with the 24hr Cycle Challenge the aim is for your team to complete as many laps of the mountain bike route in 8 hours. The 8hr Challenge will take place on Saturday 19th June, starting at 14:00 and finishing at 22:00.
The price for the 8hr Challenge will be €60pp and camping is included in this price.

the mini challenge looks like fun but i think your dates are a wee bit wrong the 19th of may is a wednesday? i think maybe you ment the 19th of june ?

I was down at the route last weekend. Just was wondering if you are still going ahead with constructing/developing single track on the Bangor trail? And also what plans if any you have for the event in the future .ie. adding more kms of single track.

I must come clean though, i am from close to the area . Currently living in Dublin and was just hoping there would be something as close to the like of Balinastoe as possible, as it will be one of the things i will miss with a move back west in the future.

I am not partaking in the event, but i have done Gaelforce last year and will be doing it again this year
