Final round of the Developmental Race series Sunday 21st March

This is the final rnd of the Developmental race series being ran by The offroad Commission and myself, with a cast of dozens.
Don't let us down by fluting around Djouce and 3 rock with your buddies. You can do that anytime.
Come on down to Oughterard and give this final one a shot. its a 3k Loop put together by West Coast MTB legend Darren ' Handlebars' mcGann...I've been shouting at him in and at races for over 15 years!! hes bound to have learned something by now !!

I replace my bars every year now just to avoid hearing that.

Was down there yesterday aft looks great.Man the wind was savage a hefty lump like me blown off the bike three times and a tourist driving a hire car with drivers door missing.Get down there if only for the scenery its class.New shop in Moycullen is great and will now service all Rocshox forks.The lads from shop will be there on sun with demo bikes to try.

I'LL be down for the weekend, if there's anything you need a hand with give me a shout, I'll text you my no.

I should be able to lend a hand with marshalling.

I was wondering what loop you were going to do for this one,

By the looks of it the only climbs will be the ones at the start before you hand the right onto the first single track.

I was there on Paddys day for a while the ground isnt too mucky at all as its been pretty dry,
Fingers crossed we get a nice day on Sunday.

Ill be out there tmrw some time for a spin.

oh just wondering how to get involved in this mtb race?? can a complete novice just arrive on the day, sign up and ride or must you be part of a club?? will head out to watch either way... thanks

its mainly for first timers !! turn up and you get a day licence..complete novices are the reason I created this series !!

We're all heading down tomorrow afternoon - Una found a hostel in Oughterard, so see you there on Sunday morning.

Gary from Moycullen Bike Works will be there with parts and bikes on the day, look for the big red van with an awning.

First of all, shame on you people for not coming to the last round of this Series. Obviously you are all ready and primed for the start of the NPS/ Leinster League.
I'm really looking forward to the Developmental series savages like Micky Dardis and Hugie Geraghty caning your sorry arses !!
Still even with out you lot slithering around Djouce and 3 rock ( god knows they probably won't be there next week!!)
Only 2 hours from Dublin and easily the wildest and most spectacular Course. Anyway, we had some great results and most of all fabtastic skiddery races !!
Unbelievable drama occured coming in to the last corner leading to the finish!!
So many wheel to wheel races , so many unfamilar faces..
and yes..
7 Models ...seven women,ladies, chicks..whatever you want to call them..
Oh yeah, that in itself made the whole series worthwhile.
I will do a full report as soon as I get the full results and Aines Photos.
Now..
a big thanks to Darren Handlebars McGann, who did all the route marking , made the bridge to connect the loop and orgainsed the medic, Coillte and read my mind 100% ..great job and a big thank you Darren.
An enormous thank you too, to Garry and Eric from Moycullen Bike Works..

These guys provided huge support and provided first place prizes for each category ( without being asked , how cool is that !!)
And of course a huge thank you to Sean , he got there early, got the tent and the Sign on orgainsed , saved me when i was lost and as usual does all the work in the background without any hugs" then races his guts out !!
Hes The Chairman of the Offroad Commission..thats a really important person..a real VIP.
And hes doing everything and getting no thanks..Hug him people ..hug him!!
Morgan today for his help, so cool and relaxed in the face of the Firestorm that I am.
And for these guys today for their help .
People think these race happen by accident ..well they don't without the Volunteers !!
