Been out on the bike 5 days in the last 10, and my knee hasn't given me any grief.
plus yesterdays spin was longer than I am used to, so I'm a happy man.
Legs felt heavy this morning, but I love that feeling.... makes me feel like I did something.
Am I weird?...... don't answer that.
Anyway, went and did some recovery training this morning (cutting the grass.... 3 hours worth), and looking forward to getting out next week. Might have to do a quick spin in the morning.......
yeah..your're weird..or just like me..I'm bollixed after 7 days in a row riding ..I even went for a savage spin with Damo, Luke and Ross this morning..no problems..legs were bollixed and i had a hangover, but what kind of a man would I be if I gave in to injury or weakness !!
Pain only reminds you that you are alive !
I'm on my way to more recovery drinking now !
Hmm, my knee is not much better than yesterday, still unpleasant pain when bending, even without any load.
I changed the seatpost and crankset about a week ago, checked now and it looks like the seat was 1 inch too far forward so I moved it back, hope it helps! Cranks are 175mm, same as the old ones.
I hope this goes away before Wednesday, I need to get back to training before the race on Sun.
Any tips Stu?
It depends. You said you might have banged it, which might explain things.
You also said you over trained it in the past... what was the diagnosis?
It's hard to know what else might cause the pain without examining it. Saddle position might make a difference, plus your cranks might be a different width.
Either way, rest and ice it, and see on wed.
PM me with more info....
you lads are mad..i've had pains everywhere for as long as I can remember !! people say you should rest these things and you should do this ..do that..but..the old hot water bottle on the bits that hurt always works for me and a steak and 2 bottles of wine when you are really bollixed works a treat for me..
I'm 48 this year..since I've been 15 i've been pushing the envelope with the drink , the drugs, the stupidness..the injuries , the wounds, its not scientific, bit I have been ignoring the wounds and the pains for as long as I can remember ..
I assumed it was normal to hurt everyday !!
its only pain...and pain is only your body being weaker than your mind !!
I'm obviously ****ed up and I'll end up in hell, but lusting after dirty wimmen, throwing shapes, eating all the wrong food and falling over when drunk works wonders for me !
Max..everybody hurts, its how well you hide it , makes you a champ!!
Feck it, you're right.
Max, ignore any advice that sounds sensible. Pain is fear leaving the body, so just harden the fcuk up. maybe drink Dubonnet & meths, and have vigorous sex in a skip. that'll sort ya.....

hhahahahahahahaha!! i can't believe you said vigorous !! i've never drinked Meths !!
in all seriousness though..
banging your knee off the feckin shifters/bars has got to be the worlds number 1 MTB injury..
I've never broken a Collarbone, which is unbelievable considering the Earth shattering crashes i've had !

You've not retired yet, ye gobsh1te. go touch some wood or something.
Thinking about MTB and the possible injuries is funny. What we see as fun must be mad to normal folk. I keep hearing the Aussie bloke in my head saying "does your wife know you do this?"
Crash injuries are one thing, but non crash ones are frustrating. My gammy knee was a pain in the ... (can't think of anything that rhymes). It better be gone. or I'm joining Don's woodworking club.
I've been trying to persuade my 7 year old to get out on his mountain bike but he's having none of it - I couldn't understand it because he loves to play football, rugby etc! Turns out he's told his Mum that he doesn't want to do it because "every time Dad goes out he comes back covered in blood!"
i have my hand on the wood here for luck !
MTbing is nothing , the injuries i sustained while drunk and playing soccer ( not at the same time ) are far worse !! and the Soccer ones were all sustained playing indoor 5 a side against fat executives !!
