EPIC Road Corner

Seen as people are asking about road topics now I thought I could get away with a small EPIC Road corner. Race report on last nights road race in the Phoenix Park, there where a few M.T.B'ers were out in force namely myself, Rob Tobin and Rob Scanlon. The course was wet and very slippy, it was 8/9 laps of a 4km loop. The pace was relatively handy as everyone was cautious of the wet roads. Epic Road got a placing, for result see link below.

These races are ideal for M.T.B training and are only a hour long. There's another next month, I'll post when I have more details also there is another race on at the weekend. Hopefully we can get a few more mountain bikers out on the road!

Mullingar crit

My club are running a crit in june. All details below. It is a good course round the center of town. Big prize money this year as well. It's not too far down the road from the big smoke. Would be great to see some Epic lads down. Online registration is open now and the are expecting it to fill up quickly. All details below and are on Irish cycling in "other pages".

Lakeside Wheelers Mullingar are delighted to announce our Annual Criterium will take place on Wednesday June 16th. In June last year Lakeside Wheelers revived our very successful Criterium, last seen on the streets of the midland town in the eighties. There are very few opportunities for riders to experience the thrills of racing on closed roads and this is one not to be missed.
There will be three separate races on Wednesday night 16th June. Cat. 4 race starts at 7:10pm, Cat. 3 race starts at 7:45pm and the Cat. 1/2 race starts at 8:20pm.
The event will be an open race this year but entry will be limited so early entry is highly recommended. Numbers in each race will be limited as follows - Cat. 4 race 60 riders, - Cat.3 race 70 riders and - Cat. 1/2 race 80 riders.
With the cooperation of the local Gardai, Civil Defence, Westmeath Sports Advisory Body and Westmeath Co. Council, the event last years was a major success which tied in with National Bike Week. Riders gave it the thumbs up as a top class promotion and the organisers are confident it will be bigger and better this year.
Expert the well know Electrical appliances group have very kindly sponsored this years Criterium and with the Lakeside Wheelers having a reputation for promoting excellent racing events, this is an evening not to be missed.

Whats the cross over from mtb to road like? How fast is the A4 group. I wouldn't mind giving a race a go at some stage for the crack.

The pace in the A4 group is not that quick and the race distance is restricted to ~60k, some races are better than others to pop your cheery! PM me if you want any more details also I leave Naas/South Dublin early on sat. mornings if you ever wanted to come along for a spin.

Dangerous game that auld road racing...more serious crashes and injuries this year than ive heard of in MTB racing for the past 5 - for real! Was lance riding that one!!
