The last lid I broke was a spesh one so I suspect they work pretty good too. At the end of the day its really down to fit and comfort as they all meet the same standards and safety criteria.
I've broken about four or five lids over the years varying from bell to giro and my head never broke so i suppose it depends on budget and style preferences as I suspect they all work. Go to your local bike shop and try on a few and see what fits your head best. The pisspots look way cool but if you have a propensity to overheat then thin k twice.
Lids are cheaper in the uk due to some sort of safety device vat rule.
I use a Specialized Tactic. £55 from McConveys, I think.

but probably better going into the likes of the bike rack. at least you can make sure the helmet fits. nothing worse than a helmet that keeps moving.
If budget allows (and it fits) I have not had a better helmet than the Specialized S-Works 2d. Really light on your head, great vents and the closure mechanism works really well. I have landed on my head once with them and it did exactly what it should.

I was going to get one online but a friend of mine works in moutain bike works and said they have one out there for a tenner more than online so ill get one locally.
