Upgrade or save to buy new?

What is better, keep upgrading the bike, or at some point just stop and start to save to get a new one?

Was doing some research and to get my actual bike the way I want it would be around € 1.000

A new one around € 2k, but then I could try to sell the old one.

Upgrading is more fun, but if you buy a new you might get a better price then Buying separates parts?

If you have a good frame which you like and suits you riding style then I would just upgrade. But given you could drop €700 in a heartbeat on decent wheels and forks (new) alone it can become complicated when you'd pick up a very good new HT for €1200.

In short, who knows?

I'd be for the save and maintenance. You'll break or wear out enough bits over the course of a year. You can upgrade those bits.
Your tastes in what way or where you like to ride will change over time especially if your less than a year at MTB. You may want to change between a hard tail or a full sus.
It's possible you'll want both :-)
Let's face it you can't beat the "wohoo" factor of buying a new bike anyway.
