Anyone heading out this evening?

Was supposed to be going out to ticknock for a spin with a mate for my first ride out since I finished my exams last night and the fecker has pulled out. Anyone heading out to Ballinastoe or Ticknock that I can tag along with this evening?

Actually scratch that. The wife has badgered me into bringing her out to see if she likes it before I buy her a bike. Can anyone recommend a nice easy XC route? I think Ballinastoe loops would be a bit too technical and she would end up falling off too much and then I'd be in the doghouse

Your not going to get anywhere easier than Ballinastoe, particularly if you just stick to the last three sections and just do them a few times.

Alternatively you could just take her to Djouce and shove her off down xtc, benchcutand son of benchcut, that's what I did with my wife first time I took her out! You'll soon find out if she has any interest in getting into biking!!!

Ballinastoe is a desperate place to bring beginners !!
bring her to Djouce..
go through the barrier..
down the hill, go left on to the long walking track to the dried up lakes , do a lap around the lakes and back again..
works for kids and ladies..its a beautiful trail, non technical and they get a workout..
you cannot bring complete beginners to Ballinastoe or anywhere else with a big stupid start hill and then expect them to enjoy it..
I remember some of the savages we see today burst themselves on XTC and benchcut..
walking up the hill to XTC..walking up and down stuff they take for granted now..

Hey my wife loved xtc and benchcut, she cycled all the way down it bar a few dabs at the hairpins etc!! Your right about the big hill at the start of Ballinastoe though, she hates that, hence I was suggesting doing the last few sections and not heading all the way up the hill!!! She loves her horse more than the bike, that's why she's not out much!!

Can I get that bronze god title now? Ah go on!!

I'm gonna bring her up to Djouce then, nice and easy for her first spin. She is incredibly fit already, just don't want her falling off and hurting herself cos she never really rode a bike much growing up...

Btw, wtf are XTC and Benchcut? I'm guessing they are names of the single tracks in Ballinastoe.

Yea they are names of some singletrack, but, I was taking the p1ss abit when I suggested them, they're are steep tricky trails and not really advisable for a complete beginner. Do as Richie says and just stick to the walking trails for a while untill she is abit more experienced.

go on out of that , if shes married to you, she must have many horses..all for different things , for different moods and for whatever she reads on the internerd, that she might need !
so go on ..get me the one that Horseuk or Manure ( thats the horsey version of DIRT) says you should have !! maybe one that breathes fire or one of them ones with the spike in the middle of its forehead !! or maybe one of the lads with the wings..I'd say she has to have one of them !!

Alright so, the pink one with spike on it's head and all the colourerdy tassles it is so!! You'll look like a right fairy on it though!!
