Just because most people come into mountain biking with dysfunctions that make it initially easier to use clipless pedals doesnât mean that they are hands down better.
Flat pedals will enhance your technical skills and confidence, teach you better pedaling technique and save your knees, hips and low back â not a bad trade off if you can get past the âmythsâ surrounding clipless pedals.
You should read this article too... a few people could learn a thing or two from it... but I doubt it...

Ditch the clips?
Clips are banned in BMX racing by many national organisations up to 16 years old, it's felt that the kids don't learn proper bike handling skills whilst clipped in.
I don't doubt for one minute clips are more energy efficient, I prefer clips for any MTBing and BMX racing as i'm always loosing my feet on the pedals but my skills evaporated at the end of the 80's, so clips help...
