I was in with Fergal today. Still in Vincents. He has a broken neck and is awaiting the opinion of specialists from the Mater. He might be transferred there to be operated on. He send his thanks to all who helped him, and for the gazebo etc. Quick thinking sean. He does however, want to know who robbed his Drifter bar. He was looking forward to it.
He's in good spirits, and while it is a temporary setback for him, I doubt it will have any long term problems. He could be a lot worse.....
I dont know if it was the oxygen that mountain rescue gave him or the field morphine i had left over from 'nam that i gave him but he certainly was smiling up there. I guess thats the effect the Blast has.
that was some crash he had, he was right beside me when it happened. his bike went fairly flying aswell, flying into me leg to be exact. get well soon.
They only work on full face helmets. They work by restricting side to side and forward backward motion. It's the helmet they hit off.
They won't work on compression injuries, such as landing on the top of your head, or hitting a tree top of head first.
To be honest, it's a freak when this happens. anyone who crashes regularly instinctively avoids this. A good standard helmet, and riding within your limits is more than enough.
