bike insurance

I Have been onto CI a couple of times looking to get my bikes insured, Bit tired of the lack of interest from them.
3 emails to Heather and still no reply as to setting it up.
So what i'm wondering is should I bother with it. it's 120 and runs out in December,
Anyone have any thoughts on bike insurance, as i will be traveling to do the roc.
Boring topic I know but if my bike goes missing I will be very upset.
Not boring at all Terry! I've been thinking about getting mine insured too - I keep having this nightmare about opening the garage to find all the bikes gone! I was just going to add them to the household policy - would the CI policy cover for loss in transit as well as theft?
I just heard back from heather, excuse the pun but she said she would be "rolling" it out sometime in sept, It used to be for a calendar year, but looks like 12 months now ie, 9-2010...9-2011.
It did cover them for transit from home and for competition. so hopefully the new one will be the same.
Maybe if enough of us get onto CI and request that this be sorted before "le rock".
as that's my prime concern at the moment. I chain them up even in the shed(along with the wife and kids).
AL, I think that the house one was around a ton for me and it won't cover abroad, transit etc.
You might want to check out the cover on your house insurance, some cover for bikes is pretty much useless and only covers the bike if locked to an 'immovable' object outside the home. It will be fine if stolen from your garage or shed once the garage or shed is locked but forget about it if stolen or lost in transit. Specific bike insurance is the way to go.
.... and with putting them on the house policy there's always the danger of ..... "your ****ing bikes are worth how much!!!!"

Think it largely depends on who your insurer is. I stuck mine on the house insurance and specifically asked about whether it would be covered when locked in the car and was told that was ok. I believe as long as you had been seen to make an effort to prevent a claim it would be covered.
As for transit holiday insurance can cover u bringing sporting equipment with you. I looked into the CI bike insurance before and it seemed like a rip off.

Classic!

This would be a good use for my mother in law. :)
I checked out bike insurance with my house insurer, the figures were along these lines: €100 extra premium; €150 excess; €500 maximum value paid out per bike. Even my broker told me not to bother. I rely on a "Beware of the Owner" sign on my shed.
thanks duggan, kind of what i was expecting,
i have sent a mail to CI,and suggest we all do similar just to ask for it to be sorted.
but don't hold your breath, I have been asking since May and still nothing sorted yet.

I looked around a bit to get mine covered and whilst the house cover is quite limited, it was the only 'All Risks' cover somewhat reasonably priced; around €100 with a €125 excess and the bike covered for €1650.

Nobody that I could find anyway. It was seriously pricey so I didn't bother in the end.
