joystick is a great light and i love it's simplicity and on your own it's all you need but in a group night ride it can get swamped by other riders brighter lights and it can be difficult to pick a line, or maybe i can't see for **** in the dark, anyway i'd get something brighter.
Eamonn - i have the white eye - CRC - not great - while out with Dave K last night I was still getting what you accuratly describe as swamping (with the 'eye' and the joystick combined)- if you have a rider behind you - you'll only see shawdow - AndyW's Exposure light is like the sun! (MaxxD or something) The joystick has only 1/4 the power. Dave's light is exceptionally bright too, but the joystick is great if you get your own space - someone on your back wheel & you can't see nuthin'
You can have a loan of mine if you wanna check it out.
forget about those joysticks then..i can't fault the Hopes at all..and Daveks is a Hope4..really kids, does it need to be tattooed on your heads ?
we've done all your normal common or garden nightrides in all weathers over 2 years with Hope 2s and some serious extreme to the awesome ones as well, without a hitch.

Everyreadys - that's a blast from the past, my first night spin down the Minaun in Waterford was with a petzel and an everready, we used to put a 4.5V battery (like the ones in the Petzl) into the Everyready and a Krypton bulb, brighter but kept blowing, you would get about one and a half runs in before the bulb went, always a classic moment!

he has a hope 2 already but thinks its to heavy for his poor head so the hope 2 is going on the handle bars and he wants a light for his head thats not to heavy. hence the joystick. Don't you guys read anything apart from the last post. FFS.
It's a can of worms issue and looks like it will continue to run!!!!!
I agree with Ritchie Hope V 2 are suffice.......perhaps i should settle for what i've got and to avoid swamping, applied the attitude of
your right..... You could go down the Richardl route and have the exposure d maxx on your handle bars and on your helmet. The only thing with that is there will be airplanes following you round and trying to land on you.
