3rock mtb trails open yet?

lending my bike to some newbies - anyone know if the legal mtb trails are completed and open in ticknock/3rock yet?

Nope, but the downhill section is there for 'viewing'.

no, they are not open, everybody is riding them though , However we don't encourage people to do so !

Any idea when they get open, plenty people on them including walkers, unfortunately no signs yet.

well write to Coillte then..or better, your local TD..seriously !! apart from the fact that MAD are supposed to be the Custodians (sic) of 3 Rock !!
Coillte paid for it.. though that means we the taxpayer paid for it..Walkers are always going to walk on it. thats what you get for employing a non mtber in Coillte to design and build the stupid thing !!
its the stupidest place on earth to build a single purpose trail.
Of course the walkers are going to use it. We're going to use the walking trails !! FFS, its the closest wilderness to the Capital city of the freakin country !

M theaybe more outta the way trails will be less trafficked, like the one out the back, which, I might add, is freaking awesome. Rode it first time today. Fast!

Came down the upper one over the weekend in a group of three and nearly made soup mix out of a little ould one and her two dogs (not on a leash of course). Its only a matter of time people.

More unforgivable is the number of riders going the wrong way !... WTF - are some people really *that* stupid ?

There's gonna be a serious problem up there someday!!! Apparently there were MX'ers on one of the trails this morning, there was also horse s h i t e all over the one above the masts and we met a jogger on the other one!!! Lunacy!!

I had a conversation with one of those chaps today ..... "Hi there - I think you're going the wrong way!" ....... "**** off, how the **** would you know!!" ........... I hope somebody planted him!!!!

They're gonna need a lot of signs.

its a complete joke ,kids !!
However, theres no reason with a little bit of education, some signage and a heap of cop on that there should be multiple usage.
My own personal opinion is that it should never have been built there.
It should have been built near the Blue light area if at all.
Or in Cloon or Curtlestown.
Its way too close to the City, a pity, but we're Irish, we're pirates and gangsters and messers.
Theres a thin veneer of respectability around these days but We'd chance anything if we thought we'd get away with it.
The only thing we respect is the bigger **** with a bigger stick and even then probably not, we're not Germans or Scandanavians.
Pontificating on here about it makes us look like bleeding hearts.
In over 20 years of riding on 3 rock , down the Boneshaker and all over the place up there, the closest i've ever come to hitting a walker is when they get thick.
Don't forget, Coillte have more than once threatened us with a bye law but its the stupid dumbasse walkers they should be policing!

I'm all for multi-use trails , I think they are important to develop awareness.
Thats what should have been built there first.
In fact they had the perfect opportunity to do so with the " walking " trails they built.
Make a song and dance about making them open to MTBers and Walkers and even horse riders.
Get the walking Community used to MTBers up there and pull down those stupid signs.
The only good thing about 3 Rock is its on my way to work !!

Whats to stop Coillte now saying ..there you go. You have trails in 3 Rock, you're barred from everywhere else and no permits will be issued anywhere from now on.
Just remember one very important thing.

Strangely I've never had a problem with an MXer anywhere or a Horse rider..
Any i've met have always been friendly !
Its the wall eye old biddies , 2 stone overweight with the pointy poles and the wooly caps pulled down over their heads that need kicking up the hole !!
and the really stupid thick arsehole mtber going the wrong way on tracks..but as I appear to be well known even to the newbie..they do what they are told or maybe I look to much like I know what i'm doing !
