Just new to the site but it seems like a friendly & informative place!
I've recently started doing a bit of mountain biking and took my first trip out to Ballinastoe a couple of weeks back - what a wonderful place!
My current MTB is a Halfords Carrera Vulcan (I know!) and I've decided it might be time to treat myself to something a little better (and hopfully lighter!)
I'll be buying on the Cycle to Work scheme so an approximate budget of â¬1K is in place.
My usage of the bike will be mainly off road - fields, woods, tracks, trails and some mountain stuff occassionaly, like Ballinastoe plus a small bit of road cycling (to get to the local off road stuff). I'm thinking that a Hardtail is the way to go as I don't think I need or have the experience (or budget) for a full suspension bike. I think I would like a lock out option on the front suspension also. And ideally I'd like something as light as possible.
At present I'm thinking of a Specialized Rockhopper Comp, but open to all suggestions.
I'd welcome all thoughts and suggestions for what I should buy.
