Ah what can I say... obviously it was not meant to be for me today.. after all the hard work I put in to race it!!
I had a great time though, really great course and everything was run smoothly. The 30min delay wasn't great but that's nobody's fault, I hope that poor guy that snotted himself on the Tombstone is ok.
Well done to all Epic podiumers (Terry, Micky, Carol and Caroline especially) and everybody else who gave it socks!
I feel sorry for Oscar (more than for myself), really unlucky mechanical and probably ruined his chance for a podium (there's always next time!).
I hate DNF's, I had to fix a broken chain twice this season but I didn't give up. This time though, I didn't fancy having my 8alls impaled on these two nasty rails:
Shame, I would've had a deadly race with some of the S1s
I need another race quick, the beetroot juice is still boiling in me!!!!!!!!!!

I really loved that course, the only bit I hated was the last climb after the tombstone. Well done team worc even the food choice was epic. Great results particularly mickkky, I'd say your brain is still vibrating from using tuning forks, WTF are u on!! My heart went out for Oscar, I felt like jumping the barrier and helping him out,it can be so cruel this Mtb stuff

Well done to all the EPIC riders today and new and not so new National Champions. Caroline, Aine, Carol and Orla charging in their cats. Savage result from Mickkky in a particularly tough field. Terry was flying in S3 and won it by miles. A great course, a real mountain-bikers course, a pleasure to ride. A mechanical ruined my race but hey that's MTB'ing. Hard luck to Max and Morty who also had mechanicals.
An embarrassing DNF for myself. Punctured on the tombstone chicken run on my final lap. I thought tubeless was supposed to be some black magic that warded off phantom protruding sticks that puncture your sidewalls. But seriously? Am I using the wrong sealant!?
Epic race. Loved it.
Was so annoyed with the DNF but also really happy with the ride I put in after doing s3 all year. Was 10th when I retired. Cheers for the position info richie. Is no clue at all. 4laps is tight going I have to say.

first ever race for me today - loved it and a great experience.
Great course, venue and results from Epic. was next to Caroline for the first lap and a half, she was absolutely flying - MILES ahead of the competition!
Terry said to go like the clappers to the first single-track, so thats what I did. It was nice to pass a lot of lads pushing their bikes up the climbs, and I had Richie Byrne's words from last nights post ringing in my ears for that rock step on the first section - when everyone stopped and practically queued up, I picked up my bike and through brute force and ignorance stomped past 6 or 7 without much fuss.

Loved that course hands down the best xc race course I have raced on.. still no sign of race 1 results ? So have no idea how I did ! But had a great day either way.
the top 3 results in todays Junior race was taken by 3 Downhill riders..
Now don't let them being downhillers fool you they are all very serious athletes. Fair play to them..theres 3 National medals gone to 3 very talented kids , regardless of the shape of their bikes or the cut of their pants.
Don't give me any sh1t about their being no Junior MTBers...
dead right -- fair play to Gav, Dan and Kipper -very serious lap times and a great performance from those young lads - brilliant bike riders the lot of them - wait'll you see the speed they'll be going at next weekend!

I cant believe I finished 3rd,because after the race people told me I finished 6th,then some others said 4th and finally Richie confirmed I got 4th.So when Richie read out my name for 3rd I was as surprised as the rest of you,and yeah,I did go a bit mental in front of the CI lady!!!! I actually got a great start up to 4th spot,but 3 mins into the race I fell off the bike,jumped back on it to see the chain had come off and lost about 10 spots.But as if was very early in the race I just kept calm and cycled the course getting past riders here and there.Knew I was going well when I caught Doris,and rode with him for a bit till he slipped back,expected him to catch me again.Had a good dice with the 4th place lad Brendan Doherty,I passed him,only for Brendan to pass me again as my stupid chain fell off again!!So I caught him and passed and kept the head down for the last 1/3 of the last lap.
Just want to say a big thanks to MAD's Aine.When I finished my race I went to the feed zone to get my full bottle of drink.But our Epic pitcrew and bottles were'nt there. So I spoke to Aine,and basically I was abit disoriented,light headed,talking nonsense and wobbly on the legs.Straight away Aine gave me a drink,and held me steady.She copped on very quick I was abit out of it and looked after me.Thanks again Aine.
