Richie
Well i had a great spin even with my face plant at the end. fair play for the people who turned up as it was a tough but fun spin. and the weather was perfect. (for this time of year)
I have been considering one of these spins for quite some time. But I have not gone on account of the fact that I cannot really cycle uphill. Yeah I know, not ideal if you wanna call yerself a mountain biker. Ye see I kinda wrecked my knees working as a cycle courier in the 90's. Now if I go out and cycle from the gate, up to the top of the boneshaker, I can hardly walk for two days after with the pain in my knees. I love descending, and happily spent 4 hours on saturday walking my bike up to cairn at fairy castle  and hooning back down all the way to the bottom of dream track. Sessioning different sections on the way.:)
So, ye see I don't want to go out for a spin and end up walking up every little incline and slowing up progress for everyone else, as I dont know what sort of distances ye are covering or what average speeds are ye doin etc. Any thoughts or advice - very welcome.
Yeah if youâre interested in coming in on the downhill side of things come out to the club DH race next Sunday in Cloon and have a chat with us. If you can't make Sunday I'll be organising downhill spins over Christmas for old and new member so keep an eye out on the forum for them.

What exactly is wrong with your knees? Surley sorting this would lead to a more fullfilling life... I'm not being smart here, btw. Most of these things are manageable... Maybe you are pushing too stiff a gear, or need to adjust saddle height/clipless pedals etc. If you can walk around without problems, then the problem is less likely to be terminal. try products like maximuscle ache free... It basically helps lube the joints. you might have built up a muscle imbalance from previous cycling, and the joints arn't use to it. Has to be worth playing around with...
As for the spin, It's a beginner spin, so people will have to wait. thats the idea. and if you really want, you can bail out.
Sundays Spin is for people who I know can keep up..on the ones I run , you can't go on these unless I vouch for you or Al from his Tuesday nights and the only way that happens is if I see you on a couple of Saturday spins or at the club league or at races. The routes we take in Glendo are too dangerous and remote for random people.
Theres nothing to stop senior members running spins though when and wherever they like.
Saturday Newbie spins are for everybody. However they can be savage too..
Sunday Social spins are for everybody. regardless of the size of their arses..
And I can tell you this..any of the new people who've joined us since the Summer..have not seen an actual had spin yet..
