National XC Champs 2009

Well I got a pain in my bollocks waiting for information, so I just had a look at the organisers website and hey presto..

Is this just for "proper" XC riders or can us plonkers have a go too? I see it clashes with the Downhill National too!

Well I was planning on going up!!!

The race is open for anyone to attend but only holders of Cycling Ireland race licences and Irish citizenship are eligable for a national title.

The XC and downhill nationals have to be on the same weekend (29th weekend of the year, UCI regulation 1.2.029) but this year, since the XC is on a Saturday, it's possible to ride both.

Defo would be good to have an integrated venue, its about time we got together on that!

Imagine, start/finish in powerscourt waterfall area, DH from upper car park, or top red road, XC all over there, amazing.....2010?

Big village area near the waterfall, have a separate smoking area for the DHs, etc. One big orgy of MTB. XC on Sat, DH on sun, Party on sat night, camping etc.

3 miles lap this year, pretty short??? Dont think I'll make it anyway.

I've been trying all morning not to respond to this one.
But here you are..
EPIC applied to run this years nationals in Djouce and when you consider that the DH nationals are only down the road in Carrick, we could have had a fantastic weekends biking .
But we were refused because of a **** and bull story from the previous Commission about one year it had to be in Northern Ireland and the alternative year it had to be in the Republic, and when i argued the case I was accused of racism.
I'll be there alright because the Club will be represented, but I will be comparing it to the last round of the XC NPS in Djouce,

Well, I'm half thinking of having a go at sports so lots of falling off and coming in last to look forward too.

good excuse to head to nordieland and stock up on booze :D

Mary, go round that course and add another mile or two of single track, thanks, good girl

thats the **** i'm talking about..old school XC racing..bare arse to the wind and out of control drifting sideways down a big muddy chute of death ..

don't forget that the National XC Champs is on this Saturday ..
I'll be heading up with Alfie. lets get a big posse up and dominate as usual.
