Important: Epic Membership 2010

This year for the membership to EPIC MTB we will be using the following procedure:

As previous years all Epic members will need to be a member of Cycling Ireland before they can be a member of Epic. Anyone wishing to be a member old or new has the month of February to apply or reapply for a licence with Cycling Ireland. (below are details of CI membership)

On Wednesday 3rd March we will hold a membership night at the CYM sports club in Terenure. Where anyone who wants to be member can sign up and pay the members fee of 20 Euros. This will be the only night that we will be accepting membership so make sure that you attend.

Membership is not guaranteed. So all members old or new must sign up this way.


Here is a list of the different options available for membership to Cycling Ireland:

1.Cycling Membership- This is the basic membership to CI. As a member of CI it will mean that you have liability cover during all the Epic spins. However this option does not enable you to participate in national races and events.
€20.00

2.Restricted Competition- Further to the option above this enables you to participate in national mtb races and events in 2010.
€85.00

3.Full Competition Senior & Vet- Further to the option above, this will enable you to participate in all disciplines (i.e. road, mtb etc)
€120.00

4.Full Competition Junior: As above for Junior applicants (16-18)
€50.00

5.Full Competition U16: As above for U16 applicants
€35.00

N.B. Anyone wanting to compete abroad must apply for the overseas authorisation (€20.00) and supply a passport photo. There can be no changes made to your Cycling Ireland membership for 2010 once it has been created.

With regards to CI, when i applyed online for the restricted licence, i got a message saying something like "thank you for your aplication, once it has been looked at we will be in touch" or something along those lines anyway, any ideas what that was all about and whats happening?

the Club as to approve people applying for a Licence using Epic as there club. So i think thats what is refering to.

Ok so your waiting for them to get in touch with you so you can say 'yes he's with Epic' and then they will get in touch with me and say 'yes everything seems in order, that will be €85 please'....
Sorry for the questions Jack but it's a bit more than confusing, i just want to pay my €85 for the restricted licence and pay you guys for my membership, it's like the feckin Krypton factor.

If you have applied for a licence, let Jack know by email and he'll then approve it and away you go.

On the CI website there seems to be two clubs 'EPIC MTB' and 'Epic MTB' both with different contact emails. Does it make a difference which one is picked?

every bleedin year the licenses do this!

Why is MAD €25?.... are they better than us?
c'mon Ferg, explain? do you not want riff raff? Is it because you are South Dublin based, loike?

it's to discourage commoners, doesn't seem to be working though....

i want to pay for my licence but dont know what to pay for
i want to race road,mtb and abroad what licence do i need genius

Cycling Ireland are the governing body for cycling activities in this country,
and are responsible for providing a licence-application system for their members and (potential members) which is easy to use and straightforward
In my opinion they have failed to do so.
I have reported issues until I am blue in the face without satisfactory resolution.
It's time they started hearing what people think and all the various questions ye have.

I think I have managed to do it ok, either that or I was subscribed to NTL.

in fairness to heather i have had some progress towards getting my licence,she has been very helpful,but i can't blame anyone for being fed up as it is a mess.

I've other commitments on Wednesdays. Can I do this at another time or is it acceptable just give the money to someone attending to pay on my behalf ?
