WALLER CUP - BOHERMEEN SUN 11th MARCH

Yesterday the Waller Cup was on in Bohermeen, myself and Donough were the only two EPIC members out racing, like Saturday the course was fast and flat, with only two short little drags. In the A4 race Donough punctured on the first lap so game over, I was in the A1/A2 around 110Km, the A2's got a 1min handicap but were reeled in on the 1st of 7 laps as we went into the 2nd lap a break formed, which I was in, it was a group of around 15, but a lap or two later it was down to 9 riders, we were away!!! happy days but with 3 laps to go we were attaching eachother in the break and a group of 4 got away with 1 other joining later to make 5 up front and 4 of us in the 2nd group on the road, great still in the prizes, but with 1 lap to go another group came over to us and went straight through us and we were tired from being out all day, then with 1/2 lap to go a group of around 15 came across, I was gutted, all the hard work for nothing, but in the end I got up in the sprint to take 6th unplaced A2. Really enjoyed this race and it was well run with good prizes and sambo at the end.

Gutted at puncturing, fixed puncture (I was laughed at when others found that I was carrying all that weight, tube, pump, tyre levers!?! -is it normal not to?) and cycled on until the bunch came round again when I tagged on the back and rode around. Good day for it and fun, mind you when I punctured I wasn't so happy..... the organisation was great too as Morty said, great pub. Could have settled in there nicely.....

you could've won cycleways in navan if only for that pump in your pocket! i've been carrying that stuff too. don't think most people bother

I think I'll continue to carry them anyway! It was 35kms back from the turning point on Saturday!

To be honest, I don't think carrying your own pump and tube will slow you down... I'd sooner laugh at those poor feckers stuck at the side of the road waiting for neutral assistance to rescue them, then go all the way back home with your gears skipping. I always carry all the essentials with me, except for the club league (have it at the start finish).

+1 for what Max said. Carrying a small pump & road tube doesn't make any difference. You get a flat, you still get a spin in. Iv seen a good few lads standing at the side of the road looking bemused as they try to figure out how to get home

I can't believe you didn't win Morty,as for you Max get your finger out, training like a Pro all Winter and it looks like Donough is our most successful arse bandit, I mean Roadie..sorry about that lads , age and divilment induced Tourettes !
