Sunday 22-April Coombes Connor Memorial Road Race

Leinster Sunday 22-Apr Coombes Connor Memorial - Sun 22nd at 1.00pm. Race 1 A1 A2 14km lap x 8 laps 112km. Race 2 A3 Juns 14km lap x 5 laps 70km. Race 3 A4 only 14 km lap x 4 laps 56km. Race 4 Ladies Nat league round 2 14km lap x 4 laps 56km. Sign-on opens at 11am in the opel garage Drogheda retail park and presentation will be in the Thatch Bar afterwards. I love this race, cause there's no climbs!!! good flat route with a kick at the finish and a short big ring drag. RL did it last year along with a few others, it would be a good race to start with.

Sorry lads the result are from Saturday's race, today's race (sunday) was the Coombes Connor, a flat and fast course, there was a few big names down for this one, and a few lads from the An Post team, so the race started quick with the pro's and full timers going up the road early, leaving it to the rest of us, with the weather being so bad and a group up the road the race was a bit erratic, so I decided to use the race as training and put myself into as much pain as possible, because in 4 weeks that all I going to feel in the RAS, so I did, I was wrecked towards the end and didn't bother going up for the sprint and just rolled in. In all two days racing and a few extra miles yesterday before the race.

No one else from EPIC was at this one but Gene from MAD did the A4 race and was going very well and at the end was up for the sprint, however in his words" it was the singular most terrifying experience on a bike" and rolled in between 10 and 15th place, fair play, also I think I spotted a IMBRC jersey before the start. Road racing is great for m.t.b'ing and it would be great to see a few more out at these.

I'm still feeling the pain. After 10k the A1's caught us and the speed doubled. It was eyeballs out all the way to the finish. in some strange way I enjoyed it.
But don't let that put anyone off, the handicap is usually much better.
What else would you be doing on a saturday evening!

oh I'd rather be shagging me wife , John but if having your eyeballs on sticks is your idea if fun , who am I to argue ?
