Line out to Skerries - less than 24 hours

Just want to thanks everyone for their message of support; I’d especially like to thank Richie and EPIC for their support, Smithers at motopitstop.ie who is powering my RAS ambitions, Alan at redsport.ie for he’s endless supply of bottles, Oz for his mentoring and training plan, I sometime cursed him, with the stuff he made me do, but hopefully it will pay off, all the crew at Cuchulainn Cycling, who have taken me on board, anyone who has put up with me talk crap on training spins, a big thank you to my pregnant wife who let me out to training and never stood in the way of me trying to achieve my goal, but I have my orders from the next Sunday onwards!
I still have a bit of a cold hanging around and am nervous, it’s not a good combination as I don’t really know how I feel, I went out his morning for a easy 1:30 but it was hard work with the wind, so I’m all over the place, but I have the bag nearly packed and the bike clean, and plan for a early night, but I probably will be awake all night with mad stuff going through my head, but the way I’m looking at it now that I can’t do anything about the cold and that I can’t do any more training, and if the training that I did is not enough to get around the RAS, I don’t know what is, my ambition is to finish in the main bunch on the flat days and make it in within the time limit and the hilly ones and hopefully make it to Skerries, but again it’s all unknown.
I’m going to try and write a report each day, with my experience of that day, so I’ll try update tomorrow. The first stage starts at 12:30 and goes from Dunboyle to Kilkenny totalling 147km, going through Kil****, Prosperous, Hill of Allen Hot Spot Sprint, Milltown, Kildare, Nurney, Athy, Ballylynan Post Office Hot Spot Sprint, Farnons Hill Category 3 KOM, Castlecomer, Glenmagoo Category 2 KOM & Hot Spot Sprint, Dunmore, I know the first 70 or 80km of this route as these are my training roads, so I should feel comfortable knowing what’s around the corner.
Cheers
Daragh
