Our club is running the Irish Hill Climb Championships on a course you guys are all no doubt familiar with - Glendalough to the top of Turlough Hill. We are running both the Championship itself (a time trial) and a support Challenge event. The Challenge will be mass start and is basically about getting folks out - no racing license will be required (just register online), total cost for racer/non-racer alike will be â¬10.
Not sure you can enter the actual Championship on a one day licence Ger but as far as I can see you don't need any licence to enter the Challange event!
Championship is licence only. A1,2&3 in the running. A4 can enter, but can't take title.
Challenge is mass start, and open to anyone. No licence required.
It's being ran by myself, Ryan, Mel & Sean. So knock on up. Show those roadies how you boys can climb.
you cannot buy one for the Champs..one day licences are not permissable for Championship races, you may enter the loser challenge event you feckin nut job ! hahahahahhahaha..! Jackson for Offroad Commission Chairman !
As richie says, you can't enter national champs on a 1 day,
But you can race the challenge. We will look after your 1 day.
So basically, show up & race for â¬10
jackson, you actually can race in the timed event, for which you need a one day license, but won't be eligible for the national hill climb title.
So you basically have 2 choices if you don't have a racing license:
- race in the timed hill climb champs race as a non-contender for the title (one-day license required) - so say if you had the fastest time, you still wouldn't get the title of national champion, but you would win the fastest senior category
- race in the mass start challenge event (no license required) - this is basically treated like a separate event and we managed to agree different conditions for this one re license with CI, that's why you don't need to buy a license for it
