Roger Aiken was the winner, Robin was second and Conor McConvey was 3rd !
A brilliant race between Robin and Roger Aiken with Roger taking it in the end by about 10 seconds having led for most of the race. Conditions were pretty awful with most of the course covered in really heavy mud. The top guys were changing their bikes every lap with pit crews kept busy cleaning the 2nd bike between pit stops. A real contrast in styles between the two contenders with Robin staying on the bike and churning a big gear and Roger getting off and running a lot and spinning lower gears when cycling. By the end Robin looked really tired and just didn't seem to have the energy to mount the last lap challange we were hoping for! A really close contest enjoyed by everybody there watching!
Niall Q had a great race in the Vets and I think he finished 4th? Ronan went well in the support race too!
I had a pretty miserable time, having to stop every half lap to clear my clogged derailleur as it would get dragged up into the cassette as the jockeys jammed - I was finally put out of my misery when I punctured on the last lap and retired! I think that's the 1st time I've been delighted to hear the "psssst" of escaping air! Not my idea of fun but the trip was well worthwhile given the closeness of the Elite race.
Well done to Myles and Cuchulainn (with help from Dave Gill), the organisation on the day was fantastic!

or maybe some light Downhill racing ? We had a great spin in Djouce , me, Alfie , Doris and Smithers dropped everybody, Smithers is on fire on that 29'er , I could barely keep him at bay but hes not the same man without you, Ray is great and all but hes not you !

I've really enjoyed the Cross racing this year but when every time you turn the pedals it feels like you're trying to kick start a 4-stroke motorcycle it's not much fun! Time for a few XC races and some serious marathon training ..... Cullen's on a mission for the Roc Marathon!

the elites was well worth sticking around for. facinating to see them all struggling big time in the muddy conditions. fair play to robin and roger for making it real exciting for the spectators

Congrats to Roger the new champ! I can only imagine how delighted with himself he must have been to take the title from Robin, a nearly impossible task!
I would really love to see both of them giving our NPS series a go, that would be some battle to watch!
