'Its teams of 3, so if your entering more you would have to select team when entering i.e team a or team b. Hopefully this answers your question'.
Anyone else here have any interest in this? Use all of that fitness and gnarlyness..... shave your legs for the TT :-).... saves 80 seconds over 40km, its an 8km time trial, so that's like.... 16 seconds!!!
Thanks Micky for the response... are you thinking of this. Personnally I did the A4 last year and on that climb on Stage 3 it nearly killed me to hold onto the leading group of about 12 riders that went away on it and stayed away until the end.... ended up 8th on the stage and 4th overall (I surprisingly had a good TT despite the unshaven legs)...
This year stage 3 goes over that climb twice, which will make for interesting racing, as the big lads will do well on the TT with their TT bikes etc and can take a fair bit of time out of others, but if they can't get up and over that thing twice in good time they could stand to lose it all in Stage 3. So it will be a great decider and make for interesting racing.
Again personnally, i think I will be fighting to stay in contact anyone near the front on that hill this year. It has steep ramps and drags on. On the last lap when you get to the top you basically have a steep downhill past the Ballyhoura trail center, then left at the bottom of the hill towards Kilmallock, a flattish road to there, then left again to Charleville for a final 8km pan flat run in to the finish. Should make for great racing.
Hi. I am sending in an entry form for the A3 race here. It says that you need 3 riders for a team, or to be considered for a team result. As I said before this will be tough enough and in A3 it will be mostly about watching Eddie Dunbar's extremely talented backside disappearing up the road from the gun, accompanies by those other Juniors and others who can keep up with him.
I am selling this I can see, but, in the highly unlikely off chance that anyone in Epic wants a weekend of cycling and wants to put their names in for a team here - please let me know.
I am going down for this and will be staying in a hotel in Charleville sharing a room with a buddy.
Just a heads up. Entries close for this on Monday next 25th August. I am putting mine in the post today. If any of you guys are still interested you will need to get onto it. I can include you in the entry if you like - 3 riders to count for a team. Micky, Colm???
Won't come close to the Cooley for the craic, but sure what else would you be doing on a September weekend anyway....
Entry forms can be found on the race page on the net, they must be posted in with a cheque for payment. Old(ish) school.
Well Donough, I took a notion today and plan to throw an entry in the post for this. Not done a road race in two years, so will be interesting. What hotel are you booked into? Reckon I'll be driving down from Ennis on Saturday morning and stay Charleville Saturday night. Bring on the 15 minute KOM
Hi Ronan, Charleville Park Hotel for the Saturday night, I am sharing a room with Paul Harrington from Dolmen CC. they had great deals like 69 euro for a double room and i think there is a pool there also. Be great to se you there. That KOM is hard.p
Looks like mostly A3's on that list. Something to be thankful for. Slightly dreading this. Was planning to bag a road race last weekend to see where I'm at. Discovered the C.I. licence in my wallet is from 2013. I reckon they never mailed this years. A new one is being printed up, so no escaping now
Yes Ronan, I saw a post saying Eddie Dunbar will be present in our race for a while, I expect him to disappear up the road pretty quickly. But also a lot of junior contenders keen to show off in advance of final team selection for the Junior Worlds later this month.
So, yes, yikes, it is going to be very tough to stay with the pace.
I wanted to go to the Ras Killmalock last weekend but through a combination of factors could not make it, so i have feck all racing in. But sure we will be fresh.... ;-)
Ehhh....could've gone better for me. You might say. *Had about five near heart attacks in the first mile or two. Then started slipping backwards. And backwards. Peddalling like a mad man. Ten minutes gone. Was out the back of the bunch. Bit of a wasted journey, but glad to have given it a lash
