Ah lads,give us mortals a race report at least!!!
I heard there was a strong headwind down the N11 and across from Rathnew to Glenmalure that kept the whole thing together until the bottom of the Shay and then it all went boom! Everyone was blown up the Shay Elliot by a fierce tailwind without even breaking a sweat, though some broke less sweat than others and those guys went on to get away and contest the points with Peter Buggle putting in a dig with 20km to go that left those behind wathcing each other as he disappeared up the road to the win. Peter Buggle was examined by the UCI after the race for fear of being part machine ;-)...... but how our Epic heroes performed... all I would say that I met Colm not once but twice on Saturday while he was out on a 4 hour trainnig spin... perfect prep for the Shay, though I am sure that his legs were in peak form by Sunday morning... well Colm??? How was it? John??

This was a great race, proper road racing and a proper hard route. As tough as it was, I have to say I really enjoyed it.
We started in Bray with a neutralised start until the N11 and the pace got going in advance of the first prime after 13km.
About 10 lads got away after the first couple of roundabouts at Ashford, they seemed to be making progress only for a crash in the break in Glenelly which brought it all back together.
Stayed together until the climb of the Shay Elliott in Glenmalure when all the Juniors went crazy and split the race apart.
John Doris kindly towed me up the climb and we set off at high pace down the descent in pursuit of the break.
We got some much appreciated shouts of encouragement at the top of the SHay and in Laragh, apologies as I didnt even see who you were so thanks a mill for the support!
John and myself worked well with another lad that we caught going into Laragh and we caught the rest on the lumpy section before the reservoir at Roundwood.
Then Peter Buggle took off like a rocket and got away on his own as everyone else sat looking at each other, well done Peter on a great escape and a fab win!
The race finished with a fast left turn and a painful climb up to the finish line in Newtownmountkennedy Ind Est.
It was a great day out, really well organised by Bray wheelers and lots of quality grub back at their flash clubhouse on Boghall Rd in Bray.
