Heading down to this race. Mainly, cause it goes up the main street of cloughjordan after 20km and my mother lives there. Ought to be able to hang that far! Hills kick in after.
This is one for the climbers. Recce'd the hill out of moneygall a couple of weeks ago and barely made it to the top.

Well, another tough day out on the bike. Sun was belting, which made it ok. About 80 riders in the A3, mostly juniors with crazy looking muscle legs, numbers down on last year, according to a few guys I was chatting with before the start.. They reckon its too hard a course and keeps a lot away. Great! off we went. Mega bumpy back roads. fireworks started in moneygall. I got dropped here. Not even close to getting over that hill with the main bunch. Chased with a group of 6 lads until the first pass through Nenagh, then threw in the towel. There was a crash in the town in the main bunch, happy enough to finish the day with the body intact. Chalk it up as a good training session.
Ye shoot the load to early went once I seen another lad sprint rookie error! But good to be not far off it as it was madness on the run in had to be right at the front for the last 4 km as it was spreading across the two lanes. The garmin tells me I was doing 58km/h crossing the line and it's flat so happy I could stay with roadies at that speed. I have to say I'm missing the mtb though
