Winter Road Spins

Watch this space winter road spins starting soon, any ideas to get a few more bodies out welcome, time, meeting place, day, route, lenght etc...........

I'll be up for one at some stage... if / when I get a road bike!

Count me in. Saturdays would be ideal.

Sounds interesting! 2-3 hr loop or 50-70-100km loop, something like that? Sat or Sun morning, maybe. Early start so ye still have the full day ahead? Meeting point @ palmers or somewhere similar with easy access to wicklow/south dublin routes?

I've tested Giant Defy 2 today, courtesy of Thinkbike in Rathmines. It was my first road spin ever... an interesting experience. I'll probably end up buying this bike, are the road giants as good as the MTB ones, any thoughts?

Regarding the spins, I would like to do a long one every Saturday morning and probably one mid week. Then add one more after Christmas, one savage and 2 relaxed.

Nice bike. Giants are seriously popular so they must be fairly decent. I've tiagra on my yoke and it does the job. Anyway, it looks nice, what more do you want.

I still have to order my copy of the bike, this is just a test one.
My sister is coming over for the long weekend so I don't think I will have time for any spins...

First winter road spin this Saturday the 23rd, meeting at 9:30 at the Old Mill pub in Tallaght, see link below:

We will head out to Blessington around the back of the lakes, onto the N81 to Dunlavin into Ballymore,Punchestown and back over Steelstown roughly around 80-90K but there is loads of turn back or add on points we'll see how things go.

Just wasn't sure what pace Morty wants to go at..

it won't be fierce..no big ring and no out of the saddle !! thats a couple of simple guidelines right there
till Xmas at least..

Max,i did 55km on my own last night and averaged 27km per hour.Thats on a 25 year old racer with mudguards,lights etc etc.Im sure you could ride as fast if not faster than me.Give you an idea for the spin time.
