xc marathon event 2012

i am looking to gauge peoples interest and opinions on epic running an xc marathon event in 2012 ??

The National Marathon Champs, or a marathon-style race Ger?

more likely a marathon style rather than marathon champs. am i right in thinking the marathon champs is tied to a date and distance

Two laps of a 40 -45 km loop would be lovely. One lap for those wanting an easier option. Lots of scope around Wicklow.

Nice idea Ger and I think that after his French trip Richie would be more agreeable than before! But I think if we're running an NPS it would be very difficult to get people interested in running another event particularly with the Blast in the mix!
Personally I would love to see more marathon events ..... that'll be the old age!

we're currently trying to pull the date into late Aug/early Sept from it's current slot out the back of Sep
"ideally" a marathon should be a single loop, but we've got special permission in the past to allow a double-loop of the same course

well, yizzer in the calendar to run one...

is there a specific distance required for marathon champs

According to UCI regs a "Marathon" must be between 60-120kms long but can be multi-lap (maximum 3 laps!). Don't know whether a National Marathon Championships would have different regulations?
