Lads..I am not posting this on the main forum just in case but don't expect to see lap times for yesterdays race. Unfortunately the lad looking after the chip timing was a disaster. The only reason you have results is because somebody got one of the Cuchulainn lads to keep an old fashioned list of numbers. I could barely feel my hands at the finish line but I had a rough memory of who came where on the day in the top 5.
Gary Sheils and Cuchulainn did a great job , however a different gang of them ran this one than the last one. This is a bad way to run an NPS.
The reason why EPIC and Team worc run deadly races is because the same people have been doing the same jobs in the clubs since they started. Everytime a new crew take over the running of a race it becomes a whole new procedure to learn.
I won't be at Cork or Killarney because I have to work every 3rd Sunday, and because I want to do the Gravity enduro I wont be giving that up for the NPS, so I will do Darvagh and Lady Dixon but both of them have already shown that there organisers are able.
If you dont get lap times I recommend you contact the Offroad Commission.
Technically I was not the Commissar yesterday, I was hired to do the MC, nothing else. I agreed to stand as Commissar if there was any issues but technically I wasnt there in an official capacity. The Commissions job is to provide a Commissaire. I am not posting on the open forum because I don't want an argument or make Cuchulainn look bad. As it turns out alls well that ends well !

That's really unfortunate for the guys running the race, I hope they get some come back on the chip timing... I assume the chip timing company has some sort of insurance to cover such instances not that any kind of cash payout will make up the lack of laptimes for those those who raced.
I know what the pressure is like to ensure accuracy at our club league let alone running an NPS.
The first time we used a chip timing company he had two video cameras and a ton of equipment and it still went arseways. He had to use his video footage, my memory and our manual recording.
THats kind of a load of me bollix, it might surprise you to know that I was often asked by the Offroad Commission if I could identify people who came after the top 3 in photographs.
The lad running the show just seemed to be clueless. I've worked alongside several timing companys at this stage and they always have to depend on manual backup.
We did see one at one stage that emailed you your result.
However I know the IMBRC used one one time that charged them twice what they should have..
I always thought it would be foolproof.
But now seeing as its a long time since it happened and we didn't pay for it. At the Blast Gee Ride thing on the Saturday, I made up all the times because Dave Morgan had a hernia after the caterpillar thing tore his cables to shreds ! I had people emailing me querying their times !
I can't remember what my replies were but nobody ever made a fuss about them.

ah thats really disapointing. You sweat your ass off for well over an hour and you dont get lap times? Surely a video camera setup at the finish line, with the timing clock in view, would be a failsafe manual backup. After the gravity enduro we got handed a printout of our section times. For the league races, surely one reliable chip timing company should be used for all races, to privide consistency.
