What can I say. Our NPS was a great success, and I want to say a huge thanks to everyone who helped out, both today and yesterday, and in the behind the scenes organizing and the final run up to the race weekend. It takes a massive amount of work to pull off an NPS and make it look so smooth, and that is a testament to the club and its members. I have no doubt that I will forget to thank somebody, as my brain is fried at this stage, so my apologies in advance if I leave anyone out.
First off I would like to thank the inimitable Mr Byrne, who did tons of work in preparing, organizing and digging, as well as spending Friday, Saturday and Sunday down there this weekend, giving up his promised race to commentate/abuse during the two races, and run the kids stuff which is always stressful. As Richie has left the club he had no real reason to do what he did, but it was a great way to go!
Thanks also to Adrian VDL, Canto, Brian, and Max VDL for running the sign on on both the Saturday and Sunday without any issues. You guys were a real asset down there and made sure that was one of the big aspects of the weekend that I did not have to worry about. Thanks also to Don for doing the underage sign on today. Big thanks again to Canto and his crew for running the backup laptop timing today, the results from which I will post shorty in the general section so everyone can see them. Thanks also to Max Power for running the online sign on, despite a minor heart attack on friday, and for arranging the number plates.
Thank you so much to Orla and her team of marshalls, who did a brilliant job out there. Again I knew I could just leave Orla to it and move on to other stuff. Thanks Orla for the lunch bag too, that kept me going as I had completely forgotten to eat anything all day and probably would have keeled over!!
Huge thanks to everyone who did a stint on the gate and in the parking field, always a poxy job and pretty thankless, so it is much appreciated. Thnaks to Ben and his wife for putting on a great bbq, and to everyone else who brought along food on the day. And thanks to Ronan for arranging the PA for the day, bringing down bins, visivests, and loads of other things in the background that people don't get to see. We'll keep you Ronan!
Thanks also to Harri and Jack who weren't there today, but did loads in the run up to lighten the load for the rest of the committee (me and Smithers!!). On that note thanks also to Smithers for everything today - just having your big smiley face there would have been enough to lift the spirits, never mind everything else you did!

An excellent event today lads. Very well run. Id say I still have no idea of the amount of work it takes to pull off a day like that and make it look effortless. Well done BON, Richie, Smithers and the rest of the team.
All the marshals were brilliant and made my job so much easier.
The highlight of the day had to be the balance bike event. I have to admit to being skeptical. It was raining and Don was poised for the queues of toddlers at sign on. Out in the field there were tiny people in wellies and raincoats doing practice laps. Some couldn't see out from under their helmets. I was expecting utter confusion and mayhem with maybe a sprinkling of tantrums, but then Richie lined them up and with as much tension as at a senior1 race they waited for the start. On the whistle, about 40 mini seymours with no pedals took off at a ferocious pace around the course (lead, I might add by a girl). I was in shock. It was both brilliant and the funniest thing Ive ever seen. It took some foresight to see that that would work so well.
Well done everyone who made today happen, we arrived about 9.45 with Jack age 3 hyper all week about getting to race his bike with other boys and girls in his new EPIC tshirt but 500m before pulling into the car park Jack got sick all over himself and the back of the car. Pair that up with Carla's morning sickness (They should call that shit all day sickness) deciding to pay a visit again and we just turned around and headed for home again.
I only seen Andy doing the gate and Colm doing the car park but they were awesome at it, I'm sure everyone else was just as brilliant. No doubt facebook photos will show me what a great day we missed out on. We also have a bag load of wagon wheels (Max's favorites I believe) I forgot to drop off before we left.
Well done and many thanks to all the people involved for making today brilliant and run so smoothly..its a huge credit to you all and its what makes EPIC an amazing club to be part of...thanks again your all deadly!!!

Well what an amazing weekend at the final NPS in G-Ride, Annamoe. Had a great race. Delighted with my first win and on my home track, That's one of my personal goals for the season to win one NPS. Firstly i'd like to thank Jon Hynes for all his work with me and the rest of the squad during the NPS series. it's been great craic on and off the track. A big thanks to Dave O'Toole and JP from bikeaddiction.ie who kept me track worthy all season and who sorted me out with a new set of avid brakes. I tried them on the saturday but the chance to race a 29er was too great to pass up. A big thanks to Richie Byrne who allowed me to race his own giant 29er. Really enjoyed it and looking forward to Garvagh and the nationals. Finally the biggest thanks has to go to Marko for all the winter training and encouragement since the Nationals last year. The event was a great success and very well run, thanks to everyone who was involved and to all the epic members who cheered me on and gave great encouragement.
Take a bow BON - a huge amount of pressure and stress over the last couple of days handled with dignity and maturity - well done!!
The result was the best NPS of the series - and it's not just me saying that - 2 riders from IMBRC stopped me after the race and said that trumped their own event two weeks ago, and look at the conditions they had! Huge credit to everyone involved - Richie of course in his last role with the club - we wish you all the best - BON, Smithers , Harri and Jack from the committee, Orla and her team of marshals (lots of comments of how friendly and helpful everyone was), the car parkers, the runners and helpers the supporters and of course the racers - a great day all round for EPIC.
But I want to say a special thank you for a great team of guys at sign-on - it got very frantic there for a while in miserable conditions - yes, we had a tent, but every gust would threaten to blow the place asunder and distribute the race sheets across southern Wicklow. Canto was a rock of support over both days and then went on to do timing for all the races today. Don managed the youth sign-on without hesitation or issue and everything went as smoothly as it possibly could have. Brian Weber took on the responsibility for the chip tags, a daunting task at best, handled with great diligence and responsibility. And of course Mick for stepping in at the last minute to enter race numbers on to the PC (and I mean last minute, I think Mick left the portacabin about 2 minutes before his start). Thank you so much guys.
It was a bitter sweet day for me as Max unfortunately crashed out on the first lap and had to retire with a twisted knee - he'll live to fight another day but was bitterly disappointed not to be able to compete for the overall junior title - congratulations to Chris Oakley, Scott Wallace and Dan Brickenden.
Off on hols in the morning - see you all at the club league in July.
Well done to everyone involved, the prep was fabulous and the day went extremely well. It was my first time being a very small cog in the the big EPIC wheel and congrats to everyone involved, you really did a great job. It is really hard to appreciate all of the work that goes into this, but well done everyone, it was a great day at a terrrfic venue.
Great job today by everyone involved , thanks to BON and Richie. I looked like a great success and even the course held up well. Much appreciated. Hopefully the club spirit will be lifted.
Just to echo what has been said already. Bon and Richie presented a brilliant day, backed up by a small army of helpers. but helping is easy, leading is not so massive credit to those guys. For a club in the middle of a period of change it was a superlative effort and a great way for Richie to bow out. It goes without saying his fire will be missed. Well done everyone.
As has been said already but cant be said enough, a massive well done to everyone who worked hard to make yesterday a great event. From what I saw Richie, Bon, Smitters Orla and everyone else who helped out did a great job and so many people had a great days racing as a result of all the hard work. I really enjoyed the craic with everyone watching the kids races and the senior races and all the positive comments from the mums and dads and the racers.
