Apparently the Locals are very unhappy with all the cars parked on the road out side Djouce wood, (about 50 on Tuesday) The Garda have been up there this week and have said they will start handing out tickets and actually taking the reg and sending them to your homes.
Also it appears Lamb Doyles are unhappy with random car parking as well so we will need to be careful with them as well.
I can understand the locals around djouce being unhappy alright...as for lamb doyles I think is a bit unfair as we bring them good business and will do into the future.if I were the owner I'd be happy with the car park being some what full as it would look good to the passing trade,also I think most if not all who use the carpark have respect for the facility,I know epic members do anyway.
I counted 30 on Tuesday...so the locals appear to be exaggerating there..Although any previous Tuesday's I have been up around Djouce you'd be lucky to see a couple of vans parked outside the low barrier..
Having said that, we certainly need a debate on this in the wider community.. as RL has highlighted on the Joe show...I can understand the locals and the gards concerns, hopefully they are also as concerned as us about the total lack of security around forrest car parks..
Suprised about lamb doyles though, i can only think that this was over the recent car boot sale they had where they asked one of us to move a van, and put a handwritten sign up saying "cyclists park here"..
There's plenty of places to park in Kilmac, and it's only a short ride up, you wont have your car broken into, won't piss off the locals and will be nicely warmed up for XTC. You also have the option of riding back via the Sugerloaf which is awesome.

That parking is private and I think its locked up, BWCC have an arrangement with the owner to use it. There is a carpark up the side road alright which is public. As much of a chance of being broken into there as Djouce, they know all the spots!
Understandable re Djouce, we'll just have to adapt and park further away, can't see that being an issue.

I'm glad you said that Max... The staff seemed to be overwhelmed when everyone arrived there yesterday evening and started ordering food. I mean it's not like the club hasn't been there for the past 18 weeks!
The food is pretty basic/awful for the money they charge..
How that place makes any money and stays open is beyond me!
Lamb's annoys me too but we need to stay on the right side of them or they may just decide to stop us using the car park for spins! Having said that the Blue Light would be accomadating I'm sure .... but don't expect food (other than pints of Guinness!).
Is it the Guards from Enniskerry that are "on the case" over Djouce? I'd be very tempted to call them - we'd be far happier to park in the car park rather than on the road if the security of our cars was guaranteed! Seems like a real "cop out" to me!
Another option is parking outside the Glenview Hotel in GOD, up the Red Road and across the commons and into the middle carpark. Not much longer than Kilmac and the Commons is a great way into Djouce, you drop into XTC rather than climbing up to it.
The state of Lamb Doyles! It cost nearly €20 for 2 chips a beer and a pint of blackcurrent, maybe I'm out of touch but I felt violated. And do they want us to bring our own chip baskets? On the upside they have parking and you can keep an eye on the bikes. For next year is there anything in Stepaside?
I'd be confident that with the right approach we can make Lamb Doyles a much nicer place. Perhaps noone has ever said anything about the food? If we don't let them know what we do / don't like, they will never change it!
There was the famous "Coleslaw" incident last year where RobMcA got food poisoning.... Sure I sent back a burger which was red in the middle and was told "It's grand"
I don't think anyone working in that place has any knowledge of customer service!
I doubt they are going to change anything for a bunch of smelly bikers that stumble in on a Thursday evening for half the year, park their bikes in the pub and don't stay long enough to get drunk. But give it a go Max! Colm had the right idea, he brought his own banana.
