I'm looking over the database of users. We have in total 1843 registered users, I found that 1522 registered users have not logged on in the past year.
To me that was a staggering amount of bikers who signed onto our forum, of which (since inception) 895 made less that 5 posts to the forum.
Just in the past year we have 82 new forum members registering. Of which only 15 have made more than 5 posts since joining.
My reading is some people make the effort of registering and hit a wall afterwards.
I will investigating this further as part of 2016 membership development. However I am always open to any feedback or ideas you guys might have.
Hey Lawdie... So yes, a lot of people sign up and don't post, or drift away from the club and don't login... I generally keep and eye on those who have full members access, not worried about general forum users, apart from the Spam accounts which sign on every now and again.. I also keep an eye on inactive users or those with zero posts and clean them up also..
But, if I understand, your aim is to try and drive more traffic to the forum? Not an easy task as Facebook has taken over from Forums in general...

That's slightly unfair, as you know I've been on plenty of spins where it was just me and yourself and say Terry Beard who showed up... And I am trying to be constructive here.

We attract a broad spectrum of riders on the Sat spin from superstars like myself to total goobers like Oscar and sometimes even Alfie and the likes of that Quinlan lad or the other Polish chap! I think the reality is that as mentioned Forums are in decline and FB is the way to go. We prob need to post similar info re spins/ events etc on the FB page and it may reach more people. Post spin pics, reports, banter and whatever else and I think that would be the most direct way to attract new members
True that but some people have kids, some people work, some people are lazy on a sat and some couldn't be arsed and vice versa with Sundays! The main thing is as pointed out that there are plenty of spins to suit everyones ability and Harry's Sat spin attracts a few new faces now and again and when the new faces build up confidence and fitness they can progress to the harder spins if it suits them. I think we can all agree on one thing though, the forum isn't going to get new members and maybe the way forward is to have the forum a "members only" space. we can then do all the public stuff on an open forum such as FB.
I've deactivated my facebook account so will look to the forum for spins, updates, slagging etc.
I can't comment on spins as I struggle to get to very many, but the regularity and variety of spins is impressive. We just need to get new people comfortable enough to go out on spins other than their usual.
I think the forum is great - it's a 'safe' place for members - and to be honest I can't keep track of FB at all. I mean i can never 'find' anything on it - that's probably just me - at least the Forum is organised, easy to find what you're looking for. So, it's probably both for now.
